Will a school like Columbia totally disregard a score of 2140, like I mean not even pick up my application? How about Penn or Georgetown? Can great SATIIs and GPA make up for that score?
thanks

It’s not all about SAT scores.

even if they did just toss out applications based on “too-low” of an SAT score, your score would not be in that “too-low” category.

youre fine

If you think that’s a score that gets your app thrown out, I’m concerned.

As long as the rest of your application is solid, I would say you still have a decent shot… I wouldn’t worry about the SAT score. If you are worried about it, and you’re not a senior, you could always retake it too…

Your Sat score is absolutely fine. As long as u have good ec’s and ALL that other stuff, you’ll get in.

I got in with a 2150 SAT superscore, so it’s not impossible. I did take the ACT though and got a 34, which is much better on the conversion chart. If you struggle on the SAT, try taking the ACT. It’s very similar, only the questions are much easier.

Personally, I thought my essays were a key reason I got in, particularly the “Why Columbia?” essay. A great academic EC or accomplishment will help you get accepted more than SATs or ACT scores anyway, though.

thanks. yeah 2140 is my superscore. I may take the SAT a third time just for peace of mind but I may try the SAT. I don’t need my scores to be something to get me in, I just want to know that they wont keep me out. Also, could applying early, further cushion a 2140.
