Hello, I have been concerned recently over whether UC Berkeley will hold something against me. You see, I am in my junior year right now and instead of taking Spanish 3 this year, I decided to replace that class with Intro to Engineering. I plan on majoring in engineering in college so it seemed like a good option at the time of choosing classes. As always, thanks for your input!

as long as you have otherwise satisfied your HS/UC’s language i dont see why they would mind since you are showing that you are working toward your engineering goal and are focused…

they won’t hold it against you. the only reason they have recommended that you take 3 yrs is because then you don’t need to take a foreign language to fulfill the university’s requirements. 2 is enough. :)

Try to take that third year of Spanish in your senior year of HS: foreign language is much easier in high school than at Berkeley. But it will not be held against you.
