My son os a senior in high school and was admitted back in January. He has done his 3 required years of math. Alg. 1, Geometry, Alg 2 and this year decided to take Pre Cal. Unfortunately he totally tanked his final which was worth alot of pionts and he ended up receiving a D+. He missed the C grade by one point. Currently his grade in the class is an A. He’s talked to the teacher and he won’t let him retake the test. His counselor says in order for him to retake the class he has to drop another class and that’s just not possible. He’s taking classes required for graduation. His gpa is actually higher now then when he applied. Will this D affect their decision? What should he do?
He should call the SFSU admissions office ASAP. The CSUs don’t want to see anything below a C-, even if he has already met that particular A-G requirement. Have him call right away and see if they are willing to work with him.
Because he’s already done the required math - he’ll probably be ok. Contact the school now though. Having the transcript surprise them wouldn’t be good.
Good luck,
