We all have to take that math placement exam before orientation and I got 5s on both AP calc tests and I know I'll score high on the placement but I want to retake calculus because I'm pledging first semester. If I do well on the math placement exam, will they still let me retake calculus or will they force me higher up?

anyone? I have to take the test pretty soon.

Um, my experience is WAYYYYY out of date. But I took the placement exam and made sure to leave a number of questions blank. I was “scored” as taking Pre-calc/Calc marginal. When encouraged to take the more advanced class I declined. Of course I was a Humanities major, and made sure I could retake the placement exam if by some odd chance I wanted to change my mind on which class to take. YMMV

so I am still fully in control of what classes I can take, right? They will just give me the option and it would be completely my choice which class to take?

You can take whatever class you want. You can choose to take a lower level math class then you are qualified for.
