Hi! I am a current college sophomore, who will be transferring from a community college to a 4-year university in Spring semester 2018, so I have one semester left at my college (fall 2017) and then I will have 60 college credits and an associates degree in business. My main goal is to transfer to Purdue into their marketing program.
They list the required GPA to transfer on the web, and also state that one should have completed a college calculus course with a C or better.
I have over the required GPA (3.30) but have not completed a calc course. The way that my community college does things is that you take college algebra, then pre-calc before branching off into specific math courses depending on your major. In my case I had a choice between “business calc” or “business stats.” I had no room to take business calc, as it is only offered at 3 times during my last semester, two of which are online. i DO NOT want to take a calc course online, and unfortunately the only other time offered was at night which would cause me to give up my job. Given this, I opted to take stats in order to satisfy my associates degree.
I am concerned that this math situation will impact my admission. Will it? Does anyone know how strict about that they are?
If it matters my high school GPA was a 3.6 and I had a 23 on the ACT. Although I realize since I will have 60 credit hours of college work this probably won’t be looked at very much.
Any advice is sincerely appreciated. Thanks so much!
