My teacher wrote his rec detailing at least in part how great of a fit I would be for Stanford. Dartmouth is my number 2, I love it, and I'm applying there RD, but it turns out the same rec gets submitted to each school. I discovered this slight problem when I was about to submit my first app for regular decision, to Dartmouth, and found out how to fix the problem so that I wouldn't be ****ed for my other schools.... but apparently there is nothing I can do for Dartmouth. So, I would like to know what you guys think I should do and how negatively I'd be affected by an admissions officer reading about my love for Stanford.

Well, if you told your teacher about the schools you were applying to, couldn’t he change the name of the college/details, etc.? I know that I have a teacher that literally cuts and pastes stuff into my rec to make it fit for different things… it comes out kind of sloppy, but it works. Was it that he photocopied it and didn’t reprint it? That sucks. The best thing you can do is ask him to email McNutt and explain that you’re interested in a solid education, not necessarily the name of the school? Haha, that’s stretching it though.

It was because I did it online, when a teacher submits a recommendation online they can only submit one apparently… good in that the teacher doesn’t have to fill out any extra recs, bad in that should they not know that and put the name of a college in it the student gets ****ed

ouch…man that sucks

To be fair, Dartmouth explicitly states that they don’t take a kid’s interest in the school into account. If they stay true to their word, you should be ok.
