I took the June SAT today for the first time, and when one of the proctors said to fill in a certain part of the answer sheet, I thought she said to start the test. I accidentally opened my test booklet, read the essay prompt, and scribbled some notes below the prompt for 15 seconds at the most, before I realised that that wasn't what everyone else was doing, and closed my book.

Yes, I know I should've been paying more attention. I didn't think about the essay till the section was actually meant to start, though of course that's no excuse. My question is: will this affect my score?

I'm not sure whether the proctors noticed or not... they didn't mention it to me. However, one of them knew my name, as I asked her how to fill it in on the front of the booklet shortly afterwards. I thought I heard the proctors whispering my name between themselves during one of the breaks (it might just have been my imagination).

Will this lead to CB revoking/cancelling my score? If so, when will I find out about it - when the scores are meant to come out, or ASAP?

So proctors never complain/report a student to the College Board without notifying the student? One of the proctors did know my name, but no-one said anything to me…

(Sorry, but I’m really freaking out over this. :()

As far as I am aware, collegeboard is very straightforward and clear about all the rules, and about any violations. 99.9% chance if they saw you cheating, the proctors would tell you, and would have you leave the building. They wouldn’t have you spend 3+ more hours on the test just to cancel out your scores.
If they do report you cheating, collegeboard will cancel your scores. They will not go after you, reporting you to colleges and trying to ruin your chance to get into a good school.
Now, the main concern, as I see it, is whether you were able to fully pay attention to the test, or whether the stress managed to get to you and you completely bombed it. If this is the case, you may want to cancel your scores.
I don’t think you have much to worry about, but good luck with everything, I would probably be stressed for a few hours as well.

I actually found the rest of the test fairly easy, though I was feeling very sick (I had to travel quite far to get to the test centre).

Is there a chance that the proctor might’ve thought she saw me scribbling stuff on the test booklet, wasn’t sure, but decided to contact College Board anyway?

Also, I’ve already ordered the 4 free score reports (not to my top choices, fortunately) - what’ll happen with regard to those if my scores are cancelled?

I realize I may sound like I’m overreacting, but this is a big deal for me, as I’d planned on just finishing the SAT and getting it over and done with, and I prepared for this test for ages (I got >2300 on my last two Blue Book test papers…)

With all due respect, although both of you may be sure (even 100% sure) that the proctors didn’t notice, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t true. I just wanted to see if anyone else had heard of a case where the proctors had complained to the CB, but hadn’t notified the student in question.

If the proctors complain ,CB would always cancels our scores. Not matter how insignificant our mistake may have been ; in the best case ,CB will just let you take the test again in their expenses. However,if the proctors have not complained, there is no a possible way CB can find out

A similar thing happened to me OP and I am freaking out about it. I almost wish she could have told me then instead of putting me in purgatory. Just gotta wait it out
