Will this EC help me a lot or not at all?

So....first post on this website. Anyways, so I used to be a very good chess player, I was ranked top 20 in the nation for my age group, was 3-time State champion, and even played some international tournaments. Except I stopped playing completely when I entered high school, because I lost interest in it. Would this putting this EC on my resume help at all when applying to colleges? Cuz I know ECs generally refer to activities done in high school.

um, i doubt it.
unless you can turn it into a great college essay?
I think its just kinda.. idk irrelevant.
plus ur not doing it in college/high school
and it's not a leadership position or anything

No, it won't.

colleges only want to see ECs you've done in high school, so I'm afraid you're out of luck.

I don't agree with the advice others are giving here. While it is true that normally only achievements from high school are of interest to colleges, what you did is a pretty significant achievement. If your level of achievement in other interests in high school is similar, I would include this. It shows you've been highly motivated for a long time--assuming, again, that your high school achievements reveal a similar level of motivation.
