Freshman 101
Language Arts Honors
Computer Design

10th grade

AP American History
AP Government and Politics
AP Human Geography
Regular Geometry (There is no honors in my school)
Regular Literature 2 ( Same)
PE (have to do half credit)
Spanish 2
Chemistry regular (Same)

Summer later

Definitively taking a SAT class and a ACT class

11 grade (Though I will be getting a dual enrollment so it will change my schedule)
AP Chemistry
AP Environmental Science
AP Micro Economics
Spanish 3
Pre-Cal
Literature 3 Regular (Same, though I'm a bit afraid if I should take AP Literature)
AP Art History

(Need to check on my other class)

Summer
AP Calculus

(Maybe AP Statistics or Trigonometry, I need to speak to the Counselor about it)

12 grade

AP Biology
AP Calculus
(Maybe do AP Literature)
(I don't know on the rest)

While maybe wondering how Can I take so many classes, I have this program in Florida that's called Virtual School, which allows me to do extra classes 1 - 3, though bro ward county rules say I can do only 2 :C)

I am hoping that I take SAT and ACT classes to get a perfect score or near perfect (Though I'm tending to get ahead of my math class to better understand it.)

Also they'll ask for Extra Curricular Activities so this is what I have:

I'm aiming for 1,000 hours for religious community service (I already achieved 110 but I'm doing 300 this year)

National Honors of Spanish, Math, and Science

President of Bible club

Making an organization to feed the homeless

President of Machinima Arts of Science (Which is basically saying film making)

Officer of debate team

Chess team

Book Club

(I'm waiting for more clubs for January, probably in 11 grade I'll try to get into the GSA)

Doing golf, ultimate, and volleyball (though I'm thinking of doing track and cross country if my school has one.)

Learning how to do programs of Photoshop, blender, Sony Vegas pro editing, c++, Java, and Python.

Thinking of making a club about Computer Science and making videos to teach people on how to do computer science

Also I am from Argentina, Buenos Aries. I heard that I get a bit more advantage because MIT looks for students that are diverse, and 8% of international students are from Latin America and 60% of them are from Mexico so I met I have a chance.

If anyone has more advice please reply, also I'm getting All A's in my AP classes. And I have a GPA of a 3.5 but aiming for a GPA of 3.65 or higher, God knows what my Weighted GPA is if I do all those 10 AP classes. (Thinking If I should do more AP classes)

TL;DR
3.5 GPA Unweighted
10 AP Classes (Thinking of More)
1,000 community service hours
Ton of Extra Curricular Activity
1 hour ago - 4 days left to answer.
Additional Details
Also In the church I think it's important is that I'm one of the pastors daughter disciple out of millions of people in the church of ours (it's worlwide)

Anything to do to stand out?

I forgot to mention that I did machinima community helping for 6 years when I'm senior.

I'll get 4 years of bible club, Ultimate

3 years of book club, debate team, chess team (not to mention the extra school clubs there coming out with)

2 years of the honors society. student government organization (sucks when my school has to delay stuff)

3 years for golf, volleyball, plus I forgot to add soccer.

I also want to go to more clubs and dedicate my self to it.

I'm also doing those 5 years of computer programming.

And if it's not enough for math, I will then push harder and do a math class every summer maybe and extra if I can to push myself to do 6 - 8 math classes in 3 years.

Plus I'm 6 years of religious community service.

And I might hopefull do get as all officers or presidents in the clubs I'm taking.

(Also forgot, Captain of Volleyball and Ultimate.)

I also researched that would want more of a well rounded student who can also extracurricular activities. So I think I'm

To get into Caltech, your scores in anything math-based or science-based should never really be more than 20 points below the highest possible score… You should be dominating international and industrial competitions (USAMO, Siemens, Intel, etc.), and should have exhausted every math class at your school and have had to take math classes at a local college. You don’t give us any scores, and you don’t say that you have the rest of this either… Being a URM (hispanic) will help, but with this lack of competitive stats, I still say your chances are slim to none. By the way, there was a post on CC about what’s expected of a Caltech applicant… Wish I could find it for you. It’d crush your soul, sorry, but I want to be honest.

EDIT! You said MIT, ohh… Well, almost the same applies, sorry…

Here: Read up, the latest MIT applicant result thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=1157956</a></p>

crap i want to edit but I don’t know how to?

anybody find the caltech applicant posts??

Couldn’t find that other thread I was talking about…

Well I better start getting 5’s on all my AP classes, start working now for SAT and ACT so I have a chance to get a perfect :P, also get ALL A’s for three years straight to impact my weighted GPA

Great way to look at it! I love that you’re motivated, not crushed(:

Thanks. I only have two ways to settle it.

1.) Cry and say that I couldn’t do it because it was hard

2.) Go get a tutor for math (to be better in the PSAT), start practicing to get a really high score, same goes for the ACT/ do everything else on my AP classes (maybe do more AP classes), and hope for God that I’ll get into MIT.

Good plan haha, the second one(:

By the way, mind chancing me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=1211013</a></p>

Doubt it. Low GPA, not great math/science/engineering etc EC’s and not really advanced in math (Algebra 1 is usually the lowest you can go as a freshman). Get good test scores but MIT is super selective and unfortunately I don’t think you have a good chance. I believe international applicant is actually harder, but I’m not completely sure.

MIT and CIT really want math students that are THAT skilled (like when you said “dominating international and industrial competitions (USAMO, Siemens, Intel, etc.)”?

because now im thinking of reconsidering … :P

Never thought of doing USAMO, Siemens, but where can I go for that?

You won’t be able to do USAMO, since you’re not a US/Canada student. Anyway, the complexity of those math problems is extremely high and it wouldn’t be possible for someone who only took Algebra 1 and Geometry (being brutally honest here, sorry).

As for Siemens, I’m not sure.

oh ok… I was wondering that I saw your application for your college, may I ask how did you did so much math classes?

Also I’m in America and am a resident here, but I was born in Argentina.

Oh, then never mind, you could do USAMO if you qualified. Well to do that, you would need to take the AMC. I highly doubt that you could go to the AIME simply because you aren’t advanced in math classes, but you can try.

What grade are you in right now?

My school just offered higher math classes.

I’m in 10th.

But if I’m considering of taking out one AP class of mine and doing Algebra 2 so I can be a bit more ahead and do pre cal on school, so I might have a chance to do calculus in the summer.

That would be a good idea for MIT.

On a side note, no offense but why is your grammar so strange? Are you a recent immigrant?

I am, but the thing is that I have my residence here.

UW GPA: 3.5 :0
While this is far from bad, for MIT, it pretty much knocks you completely out of the equation.
