I have a website with 15,000 monthly views, should i put this on my college app?
Also I have a YouTube video with ~16,000 views that I made many years ago, is that even worth to put on my app.
Depending on what you do to maintain the website and what the website is about I see no fault in listing that as an EC, however I wouldn’t really say anything about the video
The YouTube video is worth absolutely nothing in terms of college admissions. Don’t list it on your application; it’ll look bad.
Your website is definitely an EC though, especially if you made it yourself and actively maintain it.
ok thanks
I would absolutely list the youtube channel, depending on the topic. It won’t look bad, provided you’ve been updating it regularly.
Nothing wrong with listing it but don’t expect some WOW moment – don’t overestimate its uniqueness. You’re about to be a Junior – working on GPA and your SAT/ACT will be much more relevant. Good luck to you.
In my opinion, it really depends on what the topic is for both forums. As I’m sure you have already discerned, there is a difference between your run-of-the-mill reblogging-fiasco on Tumblr and a website that you, personally, write, photograph, design, etc., for. Use your best judgement, and if you think your website fits the criteria for the latter situation, by all means mention it. It probably won’t hurt, but don’t rely on it to make up for a poor GPA/test scores.
Best of luck regardless!
Just be sure that the website you refer to is one you’d be comfortable having admissions officers see.
