I have lived in the middle east for 10 years, in Pakistan for 5 years and in the states for a year. I have learned how the various cultures act and what their opinions are. I have heard almost all the different views that people have regarding terrorism and the policies on terrorism. If this can help me at all, how should I present it to the universities that I'm applying to?

If you can portray it in a compelling way, an essay sounds appropriate.

Should i base my essay on this?

^you know your experiences better than we do. this is definately a possiblility for an essay. but you might have something more interesting that you want to talk about. do you?

I do, but i think this can give me an advantage and if it can I don’t want it to go to waste.

Tarnation

IMHO, the most important thing about the essay is for the school to learn about you as a person. You should be the focus.

For example: How did hearing people with views that differ from yours effect you? How did you learn to accept other cultures? How do these experiences make you who you are?

If you can do this, I think it’s a great essay. It certainly won’t be one of the hundreds that are fundamentally the same.
