Will this hurt my chances?

I’m currently in AP Chem and getting a B-… I know it will only get worse from here, as second semester is so much harder. (test averages are Cs and lower. I maintain a B because of labs, homework, etc) I’m getting help from my teacher, I have a tutor… it’s just not clicking.

Would it hurt my chances at Bowdoin if I dropped AP Chem at semester and picked up another science class, like Astronomy?

btw I have a 30 act, 3.8 gpa as of junior year and good recs and ecs

Are you a junior or a senior? I would NOT drop the class, personally. I think that it shows that you are challenging yourself. AP Chem is one of the hardest AP exams. If you’re a senior, Bowdoin will just see the first semester B-, unless you enroll, and then they’ll see the final grade if you choose to attend. A B is not bad at all, you already have a great 3.8 GPA!

Don’t drop it. Just make sure you get a B- or higher by the end of the year or you may get rescinded (that is if you get in).

I don’t think colleges will rescind for a C, alibadude888. For admission to be rescinded, most colleges need to see a drastic drop in grades (from A’s and a B or two to mostly C’s, D’s, and even F’s). At least that is what I read on *****.
