I'm not looking anywhere amazingly fantastical(Smith, Mount Holyoke, Carthage, Tulane, Scripps, Pomona are on my list)...so would not taking Lit kill my chances? should i suck it up?

Well, if you were applying at somewhat tougher schools (not that your schools are easy, but no 8% admit rate or anything) then I’d say you must must take it, but I don’t know, it sounds like you have a rigorous schedule. Lit is kind of a backbone class however, and it seems odd that you would take language and not lit. But overall, since you have such a rigorous schedule I don’t think it would affect you too much.

no, it won’t kill you. however, if you’ve taken language and have a fairly good grasp of how to analyse literature, i think it’s something you can kinda self-study.

i don’t know, however. i took the exam, but never took a class for either english exam.

I wouldn’t take it if you don’t think you can handle it (though maybe you could take it instead of a different AP?). Your courses are rigorous enough, and it’s definitely better to get good grades than to take another difficult class and have it weigh you down. Plus, you don’t want to burn out before you even get to college!

It really depends on whether you want Scripps or Pomona. Deciding you’ll have senioritis is really short sighted. Try the Japanese method, only start slacking once you’ve gotten into a top college.

It won’t hurt you, but by looking at what you’ve got, the colleges you listed won’t be a problem for you. Your rank/ACT/ECs are all very good. Perhaps think about some upper tier colleges?
