I was so nervous when I had my interview and I said some really stupid things. My interviewer went to Duke for undergraduate but went to Law school at UGA. I was an idiot and when he asked me what colleges i applied to, I was a little too honoest. I said "Well I applied to UGA and got in but that is soo my backup school". I know this was not a great thing to say and afterword when I talked about what I liked about Duke, he kept saying Duke was not like that. He said that Duke is not so intellectual and "there are jocks and fun people and then there are those antisocial smart people". Is he going to butcher me in the interview part so much that it will really hurt me?

sounds like he was a dick man

He was a dick? Are you joking?

He didn't do anything wrong. You insulted his school, obviousely unintentionally, and he was just letting you know about Duke. Sure, you probably aren't his favorite interviewee ever, but those letters do not carry that much weight. It doesn't sound like he did anything bad you at all...

Well if all he said was that Duke is "not so intellectual," then he's right.

my interviewer complimented me on being intellectual and said I would fit in at duke because of it. That was my interview at least...

what's done is done. it's not like you can take it back. just wait for the decisions to come out

thanks, i just hate knowing that I ticked someone off.

I think the bottom line is that these interviews mean a great deal more at small, liberal-arts colleges. Call me a cynic, but I think the large universities maintain alum interviewing programs to keep those people involved with the school.

Essentially, no, I think you have nothing to worry about.

Even at Middlebury, for example, where I think interviews matter more, I was totally honest with my guy. He asked if I would go were I to be accepted, and I told him, "eh...probably not." Basically, and for reasons unknown, I was honest with this dude, and they sent me a highly personalized likely letter. Moral: interviews do not matter much at all.
