I am applying to Pratt (Duke) ED, but there is an issue; I have gotten 2 B's and a B+ throughout high school. These B's were in math/science courses. I have taken an extremely rigorous courseload at my school. For some context, I go to an extremely competitive school (top 5 in the nation, used to be number 1 for a while), and UW GPA is roughly 3.82. SAT Scores: 800 R, 760 M (1 wrong), 760 W (2320 total). 800 on math II, 750 on Bio. I don't want to get too detailed about them for privacy's sake, but my ECs are really strong, unique, and show my interest in engineering/math/science. If it matters, I have gotten a couple math awards (AIME qualifier, AMC 12B score top 4 in state on achievement roll), and have done work at major universities for two summers, developing software now used in multiple national institutions. Thank you in advance for your replies! I really appreciate it!

Overall, I feel that every aspect of my application (including essays and recs) is pretty strong except for my GPA, though I may just be paranoid.

This. Please relax. If you go to a strong school, then Bs should not be uncommon, and officers will be familiar with your school and that context. There is not an issue-- enjoy the next couple of weeks before decisions come out (and enjoy the holiday!).

If your high school is top five in the country, then your GC will have far better (and more complete) information than complete strangers. Ask him/her.

Yes I have. Acceptance rate for Duke ED: 56%. Avg. GPA for accepted applicants early is 0.04 points above mine (which I see as a pretty negligible difference). In addition, all other parts of my application are significantly stronger than others who have been accepted early in the past overall.

So you have a better than 50% chance. I’d say about 75% which is pretty danged good given Duke’s numbers, especially this year with all the ED apps which is more an issue thatn your Bs at the moment.

OP, nobody here has seen your application/essay/ECs, etc., so you will never be able to get a truly accurate response to this question. Having said that, my son, who had a lower GPA than yours and many more B’s than you was accepted RD to Pratt last year. There is no causation/correlation flim/flam to be drawn here that would be helpful to you other than to say that, yes, students are accepted to Pratt every year with Bs on their transcripts. The acceptance rates for RD are lower than ED and, still, students with B’s get accepted. The best advice I could give you (as stated above) is to relax! It’s a miserable time, I know. But you can drive yourself batty if you obsess over things you have no control over. I hope your holiday season is very busy and flies by. Good luck with your application! And RELAX! :)
