In the Spring 2012 semester, I earned my associate's degree in General Studies from the local community college(CCAC). Over the Summer, I've decided I'd like to transfer to a school(undecided yet) in the Pittsburgh area to pursue my bachelor's degree in accounting. When I talked to the community college transfer counselor about this, she suggested it could help my transfer chances and save some money by taking a few more accounting and math courses in Fall 2012 at CCAC.

So my plan is to take a few more classes at the community college in Fall 2012 and just maybe some classes there in Spring 2013 as well, then to apply for transfer admission to a school to attend in the Spring of 2013 or Fall of 2013 semesters respectively. Under these circumstances, would it be possible for me to use good grades or letters of recommendation from the immediately prior semester at CCAC to help my chances of being accepted at my transfer school of choice?

I know it will vary based on the application deadlines at different schools, but I guess I'm just wondering if this kind of thing is a common practice at all. A big motivation for my taking more community college classes is to bring up my GPA from 3.3 to help my chances of being accepted at my school of choice. I'd honestly prefer to start at whichever school I transfer to in time for the Spring 2013 semester.

Any help appreciated!
