my school counselor submitted a school report to yale two weeks ago, and without my knowledge/consent, attached my AP scores and other standardized test scores onto my transcript.
I received a score of 3 on AP World History and 4 on Computer Science I in sophomore year.
However, my other ap scores from junior year were not attached and neither was my other SAT score or my ACT score. (I received 5's on Lit, APUSH, and a 4 on Spanish Lang)

I don't know if the counselor can revoke my school report, but I'm worried that the 3 and 4 on my transcript will affect my chances in getting admitted to Yale. Is this true?

You need to send official ACT/SAT scores anyway, so Yale will have them. Though most don’t sent AP scores until they officially accept an offer to attend a school, you can send your AP scores to Yale now and they will have everything and a complete picture of you.

Many things are taken into acct in college apps/decisions. You’ll never know if the GC report was a helpful or not, but if you send your own official information, this part of hte app should not matter.

Did you ask your counselor to send an amended report with all the current information? All the SAT scores need to go to them anyway because they don’t participate in score choice, and I assume you will have to submit those yourself anyway. I assume reporting from the College Board or ACT supersedes any test scores provided by the school.

But you definitely need to get the additional AP scores sent to them. I wouldn’t worry too much about your sophomore year AP scores (nothing you can do about it now anyway).

Since your counselor sent the first set, ask him to send the updated information for you. Or your could put everything into your common app. You do not need to send official reports until you actually are admitted and are want to use the scores for placement or credit at the college you will be attending.

I think a concern is that the counselor sent in two AP scores the OP would not have reported. Thus, reviewers will see the 3 and 4, when they look at the transcript. Not just a SAT question.

If you are not planning to major in a subject where the APWH score matters (eg, if you are STEM,) I wouldn’t worry, assuming the other parts of the app are all solid. Btw, nothing wrong with the 4.

You can ask the GC to contact the school and see if he/she can exchange that transcript for a new one, without all those AP scores attached. Then self report, as you wish.

As for the SAT updates, self report and have the official complete record sent.

My counselor did the same thing a month ago. I made him send “the optional report” on the common app with a new transcript. The optional report (this is what common app refers to it as) was sent to all schools.

what if I don’t plan on sending my SAT scores, and just send my ACT score? since one of my SAT I scores are on there, does that mean i have to send all my SAT scores now??

It won’t ruin your chances. Just do the best you can in your grades, write some wonderful, passionate essays, send you other AP scores and show them the passion and commitment you have for your ECs! Remember to apply to a safety.

Don’t send your SAT scores. Colleges understand that it is too much money for already paying to take the test! Not like you are trying to hide. Not many colleges require BOTH SAT and ACT anyways.

Follow whatever guidelines a college states. For Yale:
*What test results should I report to Yale?
You must report the scores of all of the SATs and SAT Subject Tests or all of the ACTs and ACT Writing Tests that you’ve taken. If you choose to fulfill the requirement with SAT scores, then it’s not necessary to send any scores from the ACT, even if you’ve taken the ACT. If you choose to fulfill the requirement using the ACT, then you don’t need to send us any SAT scores unless you wish to do so. Whichever type of test you choose, you must report all your scores from every time you’ve taken that type of test. And if you choose to use a combination of SAT and ACT test results, you must report all scores from both agencies
