So im in my senior year just starting my 2nd semester. My grades for the first semester are already in, and those are the classes I locked into my college application. This semester, my teacher left the school and they had to change everyone’s class from Expos Composition to Modern Literature. I already put Expos Comp on my college applications (where I submit my list of classes), and its too late to notify the school of any schedule changes. How will this affect me? Applied to a couple of CSUs.
It shouldn’t but your GC should address it in the end of year transcript.
We were told to e-mail the admissions office at the schools where we replied. They said that, for the most part, senior courses don’t affect CSU admissions but e-mailing them in advance will answer any questions they might have when evaluating your application.
I would alert the CSUs you applied to of the schedule change by phone or email…
Did you guys even read the last 2 sentences?
i read the whole post - a couple of times before responding. let me confirm my understanding. You applied to several CSUs - then, you had an unexpected schedule change. This happens all the time - including to my son who has aps in at a couple of CSUs and elsewhere and had a late December change - (he had been admitted to one CSU and was still waiting on the other.).
As long as it doesn’t impact your a-g course completion, it is no big deal - but, you should contact the schools and be sure they know of the change. I would do it with a phone call, followed by an email so I had a record of the discussion.
No good can come of a June surprise where they get the transcript and don’t see what they were looking for.
Was that not your question?
We went through a similar situation and called. They said that they do not take schedule changes but suggested that we e-mail admissions so that when the transcript arrives and the classes are different, they would know why. We e-mailed and received an e-mail reply back from the admissions dept stating our particular change in senior year classes wouldn’t affect admissions in our situation.
As far as how it will affect you, I don’t work in admissions. I can only tell you what the admissions people told us when we called and e-mailed.
Why do you say that it is too late to notify the school(s) of your schedule change?
It’s too late to notify them of the schedule change because CSUs (CalStates) have a specific deadline to notify them of any schedule changes. It’s by December 15th, which has passed.
The deadline is to change it on your application. It is not too late to notify them. If you call admissions and explain the situation, they will tell you how it will or won’t impact you. They will most likely suggest that you e-mail the admissions dept so they have record of why the change occurred. Not everything is black and white.
not sure if this is one of the schools you applied to but, look at item 9 on Chico’s list…

I bet you can find almost identical verbiage at the other 22 CSUs.
I’d contact them - it will take a couple of minutes per campus, won’t cost a dime and and only soothe your nerves and smooth the admission process.
Do as @NCalRent suggests, contact the schools directly by phone and also send an email so you have documentation that all schools were notified of the change. There is nothing you can do about the schedule change and it should not have any impact on your admission decisions as long as the schools are aware that the transcript course will be different.
