I've heard different opinions from different people about whether admissions will be easier this year than they were last year. What's the truth in this matter?

Just asking because Vandy had 4,000 more applicants last year than the year prior to that and I'm hoping its down at least a little bit this year.. so scared about getting in to one of my top choices!

They say applications will actually increase this year over last -- at least by a little. And they'll stay high for the next couple years and then gradually decrease. I don't think you should worry about it though. There's nothing to be done about it, so just put together the best application you can and apply to a range of schools. It is a nerve-wracking time though, I understand!

Pretty sure it's harder. 1991 supposedly was the peak of baby boom, and thus we're stuck w/ the most competition. But 'rentof2 is right, don't worry about it and just try your best =]

This year will probably be slightly harder, partly because of the larger number of applicants and partly because of the economy. Especially for state funded schools, the budget problems have forced cuts in education spending which has sometimes resulted in cutting the number of admissions. So more applicants for less spots equals greater competition. Private schools should not be as affected as state schools are.

Good luck.
