Will top universities consider my case with a SAT math 1 (and not 2)

Hello,
I'm an internationnal student in a french school (not in france) and I would like to join a top university next year. I've already taken the TOEFL iBT test and got 98 (I wasen't really ready and I feel I can get more) and i'm planning to take the SAT subject in physics and Math.

1) Should I take the toefl again ?

I wanted to take the Math level 2 but I can't because I didn't study half of the lessons I need to take it : It will be done at the end of the year (since i'm in my last year of high school).

2) Is it a big deal if i take the Math 1 and get 780-800 (hope so)? Will the universities such as MIT , Caltech (or Georgia Tech) consider my application even if I don't take the level 2 ?

The problem is I just can't take the level 2 unitil the end of the year -_-

Please , i'm really lost..

Check the admissions requirements directly on the colleges’ websites. Many school accept either math test but not all do!

Truth be told, Math 1 is not going to help your application for schools like MIT or CalTech. However, they won’t disregard your app–MIT accepts either, Caltech ONLY takes Math 2. You can always contact the admissions offices by email–they won’t penalize you for asking or anything.

Thanks  I wanted also to know if I will be in a disadvantage if i take the SATs in January dates ? I’d like to be really prepared to have the maximum score in SAT I and physics since i’m taking maths 1. Or will they consider my application like all the others ?

Check the websites. Each place sets its own policy about this.

Actually, all the universities i choosed accept January tests scores (Caltech is now out of the list :stuck_out_tongue: ) But i’m talking about how they really behave…

Math 1 is fine for MIT and statement above “that it won’t help your application” is incorrect and math 1 is fine for any college that says it accepts math 1. Caltech requires math 2 and thus you must have it to apply. Gtech does not use subject tests for admission. If college accepts Jan tests, and assuming it actually considers SAT subject tests at all, they will be considered the same as any taken before then. However, if college does accept Jan test, you should not wait until score comes out to send it. You should instead name the college in your test application as one to automatically receive scores upon release; that is the fastest form of delivery and colleges that accept Jan tests usually either require or recommend that you send the score that way to assure it arrives in time to be considered.
