Will Tufts Automatically Deny Me Without SAT 2 Subject Tests?

Hi. I am a senior in high school applying regular decision to tufts. I have read that tufts requires anyone that took the SAT to submit 2 SAT subject tests. However, I did not take any SAT 2 subject tests that I would like to submit. I took the new SAT with the additional essay. Is this true that tufts will not consider my application without these tests? Is it worth even applying?

I don’t know anything about Tufts, but I think the word “requires” is self explanatory.

Took me 30 seconds to Google that they will require 2 subject tests. The word optional didn’t come up.

Register for Sat subjects in January and send those scores. You’ll have a late fee but you’ll be okay for Tufts.

Starting this year, they will accept the raw ACT (no writing) in place of the subject tests. Go take the ACT and you’re good.

I cannot take any SAT subject tests or the ACT at this point.

Not sure why you’re starting another thread asking the exact same question you asked before and received answers to, but yes, subject tests are REQUIRED and you need to send them or your application is not complete.

I’d take them for their word. Their admissions website clearly states that if you are submitting SAT scores, they will need to be accompanied by 2 SAT Subject test scores. If you are unable to do this, why waste good money on the application fee?

@jnkam24 I am inquiring on a question because I have spent loads of time writing the supplements, and if you cannot tell I am disappointed and confused. Nothing wrong with further questioning. No need to be so harsh.

Starting one thread is sufficient when you’ve received appropriate answers. Not harsh, just a fact. Sorry you wasted so much time writing supplements without being aware of the requirements. I’m also not sure what you’re confused about, Tufts states clear as day subject tests are required. Hopefully you have other options. Good luck to you.

@jnkam24 Thank you for the wishes of good luck, and yes I have plenty of other options. I find it strange that they do not require additional testing for the ACT, and was told by my guidance counselor that I have all the required materials last month. That is where my confusion stems. Hope I cleared that up. Have a great day, and remember to be kind!

Kindness is taking the time to answer your repetitive question honestly, not just telling you what you want to hear bfcause you didn’t hear what you wanted on another thread. I see nothing unkind in my answers to you, other than I did not say what you wanted to hear. SAT subject tests are required whether you are applying with ACT or SAT. Sorry you’re counselor misled you. My suggestion would be not to rely on others but to go onto the website for your schools and personally read the requirements. If you do that, it will be very clear.

@jnkam24 Actually, I do not believe the ACT requires additional SAT subject tests for Tufts. I have been on the website many times, and that’s where I found the contradiction with my guidance counselor’s statement. I would like to point out though, that guidance counselors are figures that are MEANT to be relied on for high school seniors, because there is a lot of incorrect information online regarding college and the application process. My “multiple” threads (only 2) were meant to gather additional information. Fact checking is a very wonderful tool, and I recommend it! Don’t just rely on one source… Question everything!

Why?

Have you used up your fee waivers? Are your parents unwilling to let you retest in January?

You also say that you don’t have any SAT2 scores that you “would like to submit”. Have you taken SAT2 tests, and are not happy with the scores? Perhaps send them anyway and take your chances.

You’ve asked this question already (twice, it seems, by the comments on your other thread). If the SAT IIs are required, they’re required, and not having will almost definitely lead to a rejection.

I have not had any fee waivers to begin with :frowning: And there is no SAT subject test that I feel as though I am qualified and prepared to take right now. @MYOS1634

I am aware I have asked the question twice. I have done it for purposes of fact checking. Thanks for your input though. @yonceonhismouth

I meant rely on the Tufts website. Asking strangers on the internet is NOT fact checking.

No fee waiver because you don’t qualify (you don’t qualify for reduced lunch etc) or because you leveraging asked?
If you’ve taken pre-calculus, English Honors 11 , and Us history, you’re qualified for these three subjects. Use the break to prepare (get test prep materials from your public library).

You would be better off submitting the subject test scores you already have vs not submitting them at all. If you don’t submit, your app will be incomplete.
