Will UC Berkeley Rescind ME?

Hello everyone, I got accepted to UCB (I’m a transfer from De Anza) yesterday but reading the contract there are classes I said I would take but didn’t and they said I need to update them ASAP.

CONTRACT:
As a conditional admit to the College of Natural Resources, I agree to complete all Planned and In Progress coursework:

  • MATH 1D Calculus XXX
  • P E 45X Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving (Men and Women) XXX
  • CHEM 12B Organic Chemistry
  • PHYS 2B General Introductory Physics
  • PHYS 2A General Introductory Physics
  • HUMI 1 Creative Minds
  • P E 45 Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving (Men and Women)
  • CHEM 12C Organic Chemistry
  • PHYS 2C General Introductory Physics XXX

Continued progress in your course work is essential to your academic success at Berkeley. We urge you to earn the highest grades possible as you complete this academic year.

To maintain our offer of admission, I agree to satisfy the following conditions:
I will notify the Office of Undergraduate Admissions immediately via the Undergraduate Admissions Update form, available on the MAP@Berkeley portal, if there are any additions, drops, or withdrawals from courses I plan to complete this academic year. Failure to do so will result in the CANCELLATION of my admission.
If I made any changes to my spring or summer schedule after the January 31 Transfer Application Update deadline - or to the courses listed in the Conditions of Admission - I will notify the Office of Undergraduate Admissions immediately via the Undergraduate Admissions Update form, available on the MAP@Berkeley portal.

I put XXX by the classes I am not taking. Swimming I can’t take due to a tumor i was diagnosed with, calc turns out i didn’t need for my major (only need up to 1C), and physics 2C won’t be offered when I planned on taking it in the summer.

The major I was accepted for was Microbial Biology, transferring from De Anza College. I finished all Required classes (BIO, CHEM, CALC, ENGLISH). I will also have o-chem series complete by the end of spring and I have a 3.95GPA.

Will i get rescinded?

Please let me know!

Swimming they won’t care about. If physics not offered, that’s not your fault. Since you were taking in summer it obviously wasn’t required, but maybe highly recommended. No one can tell you but admissions. You could also offer to take math 1D in summer as an enticement.

Math 1C and Math 1D at DeAnza articulates to Math 53 (MV Calculus) at Berkeley. Since you were halfway there, maybe that could be a possible explanation. Berkeley does offer an online Math 53 (Math W53) class every summer that you can take. Or you can take a MV Calc class at any CCC over the summer, it should be offered everywhere.

On assist it didn’t have calc 1D anywhere, ahhh.

Thats a good idea, I can offer to take it, but Im still confused because on assist there is no 1D shown

You have to look at the Math major to get the Calc articulation

Oh I see, I was just looking at the articulation for my major, seems like I only need to take Calc 1A to 1B, so I think I should be okay?

From what I can see, unless you are going into a Computational Genomics concentration, you don’t need MV Calculus. Computational Genomics may require you to take Math 127 which does have a prerequisite of Math 53 (and other higher mathematics classes).

Okay thank you! I hope I should be okay, seems like none of the classes are going to get me out.

@LittleCatSwagg don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched. While it’s not needed they may have given you an edge because you were taking it. Reach out and tell them, and negotiate if needed. Most likely okay.

@Ohm888 no chicken counting here. If they aren’t required by assist, I think I’m slightly safer, you never know though. Im still going to be weary though and call. I already have the form filled out and will send it after calling admissions.

so what ended up happening?

Everything was approved and my admission did not get rescinded.
