Will UC calculate ALL UC TRANSFERABLE COURSES

I am a California Community College student and I have some questions regarding transfering to UC as follows.

(1) Will UC calculate ALL UC TRANSFERABLE COURSES even they are not for the major that I have applied for?
For example, if I took Accounting I & II and Statistics which I intended to use it to fullfill Biz Econ/Berkeley but, in the mean time, I have applied for Applied Maths/Economics at UCLA, which is not required those courses so do they still use those course to calculate GPA?

(2) Regarding Foreign Language, will UC calculate the courses that I took for fullfill this requirement? or those courses do not have any impact on my application.

(3) If I complete, let's say 80 semester UC transferable credit while my major only require around 50-60 units for transfer, will it help me to accelerate my graduation?

Your prompt advice will be highly appreciated.

Thanks and best regards,
Somkid

Yes

See number one

No -- you can't fulfill upper division units while in a community college. 60 units is the bare minimum to transfer, and I believe 70 is the max that will transfer over.

Okay thanks, but i think that will unfair because some people might pull up their gpa by taking some easy uc transferable courses, which is not their major prerequisites, right?!

And it will be a drawback for some people who really want to take some courses that they are interesting because they are afraid that it may hurt them if they cannot get 'a'; it will pull down their overall gpa.

please let me know you guys opinion.

I see no problem with taking easy g.e. Class I take one every semester I know some people who take all easy ge class and they will most likely have problems when they transfer. Also there is nobody telling you to take hard classes so it's perfectly fair for those people to take easy ge classes or "gpa boosters". Just remember you'll be more prepared once you transferp

Well, I don't know about L&S at UCLA but I know for engineering they take out all your fluff classes and calculate your major GPA. And that's the one used for admissions. I'm pretty sure they do that for L&S though...(I go to UCLA and I asked the admissions people about transfers because my friend wanted me to)

really?

it's good to hear that, but it's weird if each uc has different method to calculate gpa.

I think that's why you'll hear of people getting in with like a 3.2 or something once in awhile. Their major GPA was probably way up there.
