Will UCLA/Berkeley Rescind Me If?

Right now I am taking 2 classes in my final semester at ccc. I am taking stats (4 units) and political theory (3 units) . I currently have an A and B+ in stats. If, hypothetically I get a C in stats my gpa this last semester will be a 2.86. Will I be rescinded for that because on the site all it says is i need to get atleast a C in a class and not have gpa dramatically drop (2 classes will barely drop it).

I was wondering about this also. Since it seems odd.

yah man, in the back of my mind it bothers me

Doesn’t it also say that you have to keep a 3.0?

I dont think it ever mentions it even once

Call UCLA and find out for us!

If you got admitted into both schools, then go to the myapplication page or whatever it is, then go to “review my admission” it should state the terms of your last semester you need.

Yeah it’ll probably say keep a 3.0 AND get at least a C in all your classes. That’s just the general acceptance provisions. They don’t factor in your specific case (in which getting a C would put you below their guidelines anyway). My Cal one says I need to get a B in 3 of my classes (not sure if this has to do with my GPA being low or if getting a B in those classes is just a general requirement to do upper division).

In my packet from ucla it never mentions once that it needs to be a 3.0, all it says is maintain goodstanding and not to have excessive C’s. Since I am only taking two classes, my overall gpa will be maintained, even though this semester would hypothetically be a 2.86. In the berkeley contract, it specifically says maintain a 3.0 gpa this current semester.

If you want to go to UCB, I would highly suggest not getting a C in that case because then you would technically be going against the contract provisions.

well i sir’d with LA over berkeley so it would only apply there

kinda off topic, does “cal” specifically mean Berkley?

^ cal = short for university of california. was the first UC, so that’s what they called it back then. but yes, its only used for berkeley.

I’m in the same situation as you
I may get a 2.7 this semester and I’m worried that UCLA might rescind me…

did anyone find an answer to this? Did you guys contact the schools? Please tell us what they told you.

Yep. Getting a below a 3.0 will definitely rescind you from Cal. Well it is what the admissions officer told me at least in the College of Engineering. For UCLA, I think it is case by case basis. Getting at least a 3.0 is definitely on the safe side. I’ve heard of someone from UCLA who still didn’t get rescinded when she had a 3.9 GPA on her application and then received a 2.7 on her last semester at the CCC. I think one C is okay. So I guess you’d have better chances of not getting rescinded at UCLA. I called UCLA and they told me that they are not being specific on the minimum GPA requirement on the Condition of Admissions since it varies from case to case. But for UCB, it says 3.0…

UCB says my GPA has to be at least a 3.0 for this spring semester.
So, whether I get some Cs for some classes or not, all I need is to have at least a 3.0 for the semester.

UCB is 3.0 minimum. UCLA told me through an email that they cant discuss hypothetical scenarios because its case by case. So vague about everything. Figure if i get an A and a C+ that will still be over the 3.00 mark. I am not really worried at this point at all

So I got into UCLA with a 3.44 GPA as a Comparative Literature Major(Alternative Major), and after this Spring Semester I calculated my GPA and it will most likely be a 3.07 since this Spring Semester I didn’t do as well(Gpa is 2.73).
I believe I have a good reason to have a mediocre drop of GPA since this last semester I attended two different community colleges to fulfill some requirements of my Major(English - which I wasn’t even accepted as) and transportation for me was a immense issue during this last semester.

I’ve read my contract and the only thing that is says is:

I will be visiting UCLA tomorrow to drop off my transcript and will be asking an admission officer about this since technically I did not maintain my GPA.I do not believe getting 2 C’s in is an excessive amount of C’s. I have 0 W’s, 0 D’s and 0 F’s on my transcript.

Will get back to you guys tomorrow and share the information that they told me

From what other people have said, since UCLA does this on a case by case basis, they might not give you a definitive answer until your transcripts have been reviewed. But good luck!
