Will UCLA revoke my admission?

Does anyone know if UCLA will revoke your admission if you have 3Cs for the last semester prior transferring?

I am a freshman transfer from CC who got admitted into UCLA for this fall semester.I kind of slacked off for the spring semester. I got 3C's, 1A, and 2B's mainly because I was overwhelmed by the daily sport team practices and tournaments (I am a student athlete). My major is statistics which is not a competitive major at all in UCLA. I still have a 3.24 cumulative GPA. What are the chances of my admission get revoked?

Thanks !

Are you on an athletic scholarship? Does your admission contract state that you have to have a 3.0?

hi, shawneee!
my provisional contract doesn’t state that i have to have a 3.0.

here’s my provisional contract

1.Maintain Academic Performance
Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units you reported in your application and in any subsequent course updates. You must be in good standing at your last institution of attendance. Also, if you attended another UC campus in regular session prior to enrollment at UCLA, you must have been in good standing when you left that UC campus. Notify our office immediately of any withdrawals, incomplete grades, drop in academic performance [including any D and F grades], or other changes to your class schedule. [See Contacting UCLA section.]

2.Complete Coursework Requirements
Complete the following course pattern with C grades or better: two [2] transferable courses in English composition; one [1] transferable course in mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning; four [4] transferable courses in at least two of the following subject areas: arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, physical and biological sciences by June 2010.

There are only two bullet points talking about the GPA; others are about sending the AP scores and transcripts.

By the way, I’m not on an athletic scholarship but I’m TAP certified.

report it immediately: it says report drop in performance and somewhere on the site it says to report if you get a D, an F, or 3 or more C’s

u should report that change to UCLA, i m not saying you will be rescinded but you are in a dangerous spot

i would say he has a better chance than most at not being rescinded because his cumulative GPA is already pretty low for UCLA admission (no offense) so it is not as big of a drop in performance as a 4.0 person getting three C’s, obviously.

I had a 3.6 when I applied so it did drop significantly.

I reported to UCLA yesterday about this and just wondered if anyone is or was in the same situation.

oh you have a 3.24 now…

hmm its a tough call if you will be rescinded or not–

to be brutally honest, i think you will be rescinded

sorry

as long as you have at least a 3.0 you’ll be fine, especially in a non competitive major

you shouldn’t worry too much

Very tough call but I think you are leaning more towards getting rescinded. You failed to maintain a 3.0 this semester and your overall GPA dropped considerably… :frowning: It might also depend on the courses you got those C’s in? If they were pre-reqs then I’d say it won’t be looking so great.

But if you do get rescinded, you can try appealing on the basis of your TAP certification. Maybe they will reconsider for your alternate major. Don’t know when the deadline is though. Of course, if nothing bad happens, then yay? :)

The “maintain academic performance” and maintain grade point average clauses in your contract would seem to put you in greatest jeopardy since you did pass all of your courses and are in good academic standing at your CCC. It does not seem reasonable to expect that a student will get the same GPA each quarter and there is bound to be some fluctuation is your cummulative GPA. It seems like it will come down to a very subjective judgement on the part of UCLA as to what constitutes a drop that would justify revoking an offer of admission since they give no figures as to what would constitute a drop in GPA justifying revokation.

Were you recruited? Is your sport D1? I know no scholarship but sometimes athletes have different rules that normal admits… I really don’t think anyone here can give you a clear cut answer.

Your best bet is to call admissions at 1p.m. MOnd or tues due to holiday and ask for your admissions counselor… say it is urgent and you need to hear back…

thanks everyone for your answers

hi, shawnee
I’m not recruited because D1 schools normally don’t recruit/scout people from junior colleges, but I’m trying out for the team for sure next year to see if i can make it. Thanks a lot. I’m going to call the admission on tuesday. Do you think they will give me a straight answer on the phone?

prob not but you can let them know it is urgent… they prob have a lot of work to do due to the holiday…

good luck!

Updates:
I just got an email reply from UCLA admission and they said my grades will not affect my admission so I’m relieved now. thanks everyone!

pengyu let us know what happens!!

My admission did not get rescinded!!! :D

congrats pengyu!!! im happy for you…btw what major are you
