I don't think I'll mess up, but theirs a chance my C in geo might slip to a D, will this cause them to rescind me or will they let it slide .

I have to be realistic here, since if I don't transfer to a UC this year I'm going to have to just go to a CSU- I don't have the money to stick around at CC for another year.

Any advice would be appreciated

What major are you?
What class is it?
Is your major impacted?
Is it needed for your GE or IGETC requirements?
If you get a D in it, worst case will it put your GPA near the cutoff GPA listed on your provisional conditions?

if your acceptance is riding on one class, why did you take it? more or less, how did you allow yourself to get so low, so late in the year?

@UCkittychen:

I believe that this type of situation is regarded falling under Murfy’s Law. If you are ever going to fail a class, it’s going to be a class in the last semester of your studies when it is impossible to retake it and the ‘W’ date has passed.

I assume that ‘geo’ means either Geography or Geology. Since there are very few majors in either of these categories, I assume that this is for your GE requirements. If that is the case, in the event that you fail it, will you still meet the minimum UC eligibility requirements? If you don’t believe that you’ll pass it, try to see your teacher and ask for any extra credit/sympathy, it can’t hurt to tell them that their class is the only thing keeping you from transferring. If you get no sympathy from there, shoot an email over to UCR admissions. Explain the situation and see if you can complete the class during the summer.

Another option, UCM is having Spring 2012 admissions. You’d have to apply in July, but you’d still be going to a UC and it gives you an advantage in that the classes will begin in January of 2012 rather than September.

I think this basically outlines plans A-C for you…

looking into that UCM myself, but wont have my bio series completed by then.

It’s UCR, you could hook up with the Dean’s underage daughter and still get in.

Kidding aside, what does the provisional admission contract say? That will have your answer.

■■■■■, i know what you mean, but why is UC riverside so easy to get into, haha it always sounds like a final DREADED resort by alot of people on here. i mean its still a UC.

… have you ever been to Riverside?

nopeeeee

google maps x street view

I used to live in Riverside. I’m an expert on how much it sucks.

ha, couldnt be worse than csu maritime.

my friend got rescinded last year from UCR for getting a D in stats. just saying.

I don’t know anything about Maritime, but Riverside is the armpit of SoCal.

you mean armpit of LA? lol I go to UCR but I don’t think it’s that bad… or maybe it’s because I didn’t really go out of UCR and looked around the city. But other than that, it’s hot as hell in here right now D:

■■■■■ i think grimes has some bias because grimes lived there.

but do believe to some extent its lame. haha never hear about it till i found this site. ha.

I’m pretty sure they will rescind you. The only reason I can find as to why they wouldn’t rescind you is if the class is not required for your major and you have a high GPA.

@linoch: Riverside isn’t in LA… it’s its own county.

@amsstory: Even if it’s not a major course, every provisional contract I’ve seen stipulates that you must get a C or better in ALL UC-transferable courses.

“my friend got rescinded last year from UCR for getting a D in stats. just saying.”
well thats a math class.
Its one of the basic skill classes needed
Geo isn’t for my major, its for my IGETCE though, the funny thing is I already took a Geology class last year and I assumed another one wouldn’t be that hard. My GPA wont be hit all that hard( I’m retaking a math class that I’m sure to get a A or B in, that will override my previous D and boost my GPA).

I talked to the UCR admissions rep a while back and he said if i DROPPED THE CLASS it wouldn’t be a problem, but taking it and getting a D might be a problem . UCR is already cutting me a bit of slack since they said my (likely) No Pass in French wouldn’t get me rescinded .

Stupid Murrays law . I had a 2.94( because I couldn’t afford my math book long ago and tired to take the class without it ) up until this point. But this semester is my first in which I don’t feel all that confident .

@thisislife: Check your provisional admission contract. If it’s anything like the UCSD one, which I imagine it is, it clearly says you MUST get a C or better in ALL UC-transferable coursework.
