I took C++ classes per UC Berkley’s articulation, but wanted to apply to a few other schools just in case, one of which was UCSD.
The articulation for Computer Science at UCSD only asks for the Java equivalents of the C++ classes I took (other articulations gave me the choice of C++/Java). If I transfer to UCSD, will this be a problem? Do I have to retake the classes because I didn’t do the Java ones?
You need to ask UCSD admissions. You could have a case to appeal the decision if they say no to the course equivalency, citing UC Berkeley. The UCs will reverse articulation decisions with new evidence. It will be up to UCSD but that campus is supposedly more forgiving than other UCs (or so I’ve heard). Others up here might have direct knowledge.
I was on the same boat, but I decided to take Java and registered the course. I called the UCSD admission, and I don’t know why but they were not 100 percent sure if it would affect my chance of admission. But, I know some who got admittied to UCB,UCLA,UCSD, and UCI took only C/C++. Also, assis.org mentioned about this one that you can replace C/C++ with Java for UCSD.
