Will universities consider a retaken ACT from a prospective transfer applicant?

<p>Our son had a very good but not stellar SAT / ACT and opted for a state flagship. During the fall he wondered if he should keep transfer options open and unknown to us, signed up to retake the ACT and put some effort into preparation. He likes where he is right now, but just called us to say that he's surprised to see that he got a 36. He had > a 3.9 in his first semester and will have 29 hours at the end of the semester (not counting joint enrollment and AP credits from HS); are there selective / competitive universities that would give weight to the new ACT score? If so, which ones?</p>

<p>I have heard that some schools don’t accept testing done in college, but haven’t personally run into any. </p>
