Will Universities Think I'm Lying?

Hi, my essay's about a specific moment I had with a homeless man on the streets of DC. It's genuine from the first sentence to the last, but it's something that could be easily fabricated by someone with enough time on their hands and some creativity.

Will adcoms give less weight to my essay as compared to one written about something a little harder to lie about, like one's experiences on a tennis team or with boy scouts?

I dont see how thats easier to lie about than any of the other examples you wrote
As long as its genuinely written, you shouldnt worry

well the examples I gave aren’t quick experiences one has on the streets when no one’s around to make sure it happened. There are records that you belonged to a certain sports team or a club, though. I guess you can lie about anything, but in most cases it’s just about your emotional response; you’ll say that your time as a boy scout dramatically changed your life when all it did was give you some distraction after school. But in my case, I’m writing about something that I could have easily completely made up, not just the emotional response but the situation itself.

i know this sounds tacky, but memorable and closer to heart over what sounds right.

I think that there are a certain amount of people who lie on their essays. I know a few who have, some completely (one kid saying he lost a lot of weight at fat camp, another saying that he had been outside the country) and others with various embellishments.

It didn’t seem to hurt anyone. I don’t think “fake” will cross an admissions counselor’s mind, unless you’re actually copying what you’re writing from some short story they’ve also read.

If I was one, and I thought what I was reading was fabricated, I’d give the student the benefit of the doubt- this is supposed to be one of the most (something) things that happened to you- some essays are bound to be crazy and admissions officers can never know that it’s fake for sure.
