After being accepted at UF for fall 2013, my daughter has struggled with a DE Calc 2 class in which extenuating circumstances have contributed to her first possible C or D. UF admissions told me to have her notify them via email, however, they haven’t responded to her request for feedback. She wondered if she should plan to retake the class during the first six week summer term. Anyway, would this likely cause her acceptance to be rescinded? She has an uw gpa 3.96 and 32 act. We’re all terrified.
I don’t know about UF in particular, but from what I’ve heard about colleges, I don’t think one bad mark will hurt her, especially since it’s an advanced class. If she makes a habit of it and gets Cs or Ds in, say, 3 classes, then it’d be a problem, but not just one.
If she has genuine reasons why she did worse than normal, I’d continue to let the university know and email them an explanation or something. They just don’t want to see their accepted students bombing out after they get their magic acceptance letter.
Good luck, and tell her to calm down and work on getting her grade as high as she can. She has the rest of her undergraduate career to stress out about things!
