I am going to withdraw from a course, I sent out my mid-year reports already, will it affect the admission decision?

yes i think it could, where u planning to transfer and where u at now?

depends which course, is it related to your major or a breadth course. what was your reason for dropping it? All of that factors in, however u would have to be very much on the line for a simple W to affect your decision.

I'm also wondering about that.

Last semester was my first at university, and because of a medical reason I was not able to complete a final examination for a course so I withdrew from it. However I was also taking Latin (which is a full-term course) so there is another W for it on my transcript. Because of that health reason I came back home for this semester until I get resettled at a school in NY.

So, with 2 W's on my transcript and only 5 courses on my college transcript, will my admission to NYU be affected tremendously? I am applying to Tisch, which also requires an artistic review as part of admission, and Latin and Economics have nothing to do with the major to which I am applying (Theater).
But nevertheless, will it hinder my chances significantly?

are you guys kidding me? no. it will not. unless its a major prerequisite or a core course, it wont affect you at all. a single course will never affect your admissions decision. are you crazy?

I think i might drop a class, but anyways, if its not required, it wont affect you. BTW, most privates dont have specific requirements... unless you are like a business or engineering major. But besides that, if you are applying to private schools, i think its ok to drop...

o0o!!
i think i might drop a class and it is a part of a prereq to my major.

i am going to explain to them the reason i drop the course after i receive the decision then send the explanation with the updated transcript, do u guys think it is a good idea?

if it couldnt hurt, why not do it. unless your reason was you were too hung over to take the midterm.

i've dropped a whole full load semester, and a summer semester, and i'm thinking of dropping three classes this semester, which means i'm dropping a total of 10 classes - 10 Ws. my grades are wonderful and i'm in honors, but i'm finding it hard to stay focused - i burn out really easily for things which have happened to me in the past... i keep forgetting i can't take on a full load, that i need to take it slow, but every time, i think i can do it, and i can't, and i get really depressed and hate myself when i have to drop everything. i was diagnosed with depression three years ago, but i haven't taken it very seriously, so i doubt that will count as an excuse for my Ws.

i think 10 Ws is a lot. am i doomed??

oh, i'm into my 2nd year of community college, slowly working toward the 60 units i need to transfer to a UC.

my real reason is i am accused of violation of honor code, so i drop the course first, they are still investigating, i am trying to find a way ro get though this and make it doesnt hurt my transfer decision that much, any idea?

ouch!!! that sucks!! i dont know to be honest cuz a violation of the honor code is like super strict at some schools!

I got W for spring semester also... Unfortunately, itz my pre-req course.
Therefore, im ganna take my pre-req course during summer to go to UCI!!! But I dont noe how much it is ganna effect my admission... any comments?

torrance, did you apply to ucsb?

mojo- actually not to SB. I applied to LA, Cal, SD, Irvine. BUt, irvine is da only skoo where they let u to take summer classes towards admission. 150 class screw me up!!!
