Will you attend UVA? Why? Why not?

<p>just wondering what the reasons are for going vs not going.</p>

<p>Why:</p>

<p>Campus...Top 5 if not best in country
Highly Respected Academics
D1 Sports...football and basketball are pretty good
Surround region (e.g. mountains) is beautiful
Public School Price
Excellent Financial Aid
Charlottesville is great!
I prefer the south to the north (grew up in NYC for 8 years)
Frats!
Overall fun and rewarding</p>

<p><a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uva-2011/273106-101-reasons-uva-best-4.html%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uva-2011/273106-101-reasons-uva-best-4.html&lt;/a> for more reasons</p>

<p>Why Not: </p>

<p>Some people don't like Greek life (yet you don't have to participate)
Isolated geographically (but why would you want to leave Charlottesville anyways!?)</p>

<p>If I got accepted, I would go there without a doubt in my mind. I'd probably put the deposit check in an envelope and have it in the mailbox only a minute after I receive the decision letter. </p>

<p>As to why?</p>

<p>1) The Grounds are amazing, best college campus in my opinion.
2) I am instate and it's affordable and highly rated.
3) I want to cheer for the Cavs Football team.
4) The tradition.
5) People there are great!</p>

<p>if s gets in, i would do the same as suds. best law school around.</p>

<p>I hope you realize going to UVa undergrad has little to no effect on getting into the law school.</p>

<p>Same principle for UVa medical? ^^^</p>

<p>That I don't know...I have no idea how med school admissions work.</p>

<p>I can safely say that there is no reason for me to not attend UVA. I absolutely love the school, the history, the tradition.</p>

<p>this thread makes me nostalgic! with a new UVA grad, you're all stating it so well! go and have an awesome experience! WAHOOWA!</p>

<p>In addition to the above, here are a few more reasons to choose UVa.</p>

<p>Friendly, motivated students;
Engaged and helpful professors;
Cavalier Marching and Basketball Bands (truly outstanding!);
Competitive Division 1 Athletic Teams in several different sports (especially noteworthy given the University's high academic standards);
Club and Intramural Sports Opportunities in lots of sports;
Multiple Recreation Centers, including the AFC (Aquatic and Fitness Center);
Lots of organizations for students to get involved with outside the classroom (tremendous diversity of choice; something for everyone so to speak);
Beautiful Grounds (campus), including the Rotunda, the Lawn and Gardens (UVa in late spring and early summer is absolutely gorgeous);
Rich history and excellent academics permeate the University;
The uniqueness of UVa's Honor System and the liberties it affords students;
The exceptional quality of the whole University education and experience;
Lastly, Dining Halls where the food’s much better than it was 35 years ago!</p>

<p>Here's another one I meant to list on my last post.</p>

<p>University Career Services (UCS) Pre-Professional Advising Program</p>

<p>Charlottesville, in Albemarle County, Virginia, is ranked the number one place to live in the United States of America by Frommers. Charlottesville is a lovely university town of about 40,000 with lots to offer. </p>

<p>^^^cool quote from wikiTravel...just another reason for UVa!</p>

<p>you all almost make me want to go and i love the school that i go to!</p>

<p>Some dad on my e-school tour Saturday asked me if I like UVA. I got all giddy and it was all I could not to just jump around and be like "duh!! I love it here!". Not only do we have an excellent e-school, but the weather is amazing (Saturday was PERFECT!), the school's history is rich, the school is the second best public, and you'll never ever ever meet a Wahoo that doesn't love UVA. Needless to say, the best part about the tours is when someone asks that question ;)</p>
