I'm thinking about attending some classes just to see what everyone is doing and what the teacher is teaching.

Of course it will probably be a big 50+ or so people lecture.

waste of time…?

I’m probably going to audit o-chem III at some point…I’m pretty interested in it, but now that I switched out of chem I’d probably prefer just listening in on lectures rather than stressing out.

In big lectures, you can usually just drop in…You don’t even have to officially audit. At my school 12-18 credits are the same price, and I usually take above 15 credits…so auditing would cost me money (it would place me above 18 credits).

I want to audit some science courses I don’t have time to take. It also saves me the stress of worrying over my grades in those audited classes, but i still get to learn and discuss. :D

No I will not. My old professor advised against that idea because you have to pay for class at the school I attend. Why pay for a class you cannot get credit in?

You sure? You can’t just walk in and sit down? Do they check to make sure you are on the roster before you enter the classroom or something?

LMAO

This doesn’t make sense. You don’t pay for the class when you audit.

You do at most schools–it counts for the semester’s credit load. You don’t pay for the class when you drop-in as a guest. This is, of course, not allowed, but it’s impossible to monitor in large lectures. If you tried to drop in on a 15 student class, you would get kicked out.

You’re really confusing me. When you’re auditing a class you shouldn’t expect credit and don’t need to pay anything either. I can easily walk in to a class room and sit down and no one will notice that I don’t belong there unless I’m acting weird, it is a test day, or something.

I think people in this thread are aware of the best types of courses to audit in.

I’m thinking about auditing a class where there are only 9 people…[/s]
