I don’t think there are many things you can be automatically rejected for… I highly doubt that that’s one of them.
But as for will it possibly hurt your app? It depends on the school- if they specifically say ‘get recs from teachers of different subject areas’ you may want to listen and show that you can follow simple directions.
I’m sure that you can find another option after all your years in high school.

yea thats the thing, I really don’t have any other options.

Why not? You should at least ask some other core subject teachers for recs.

I asked that question at my BU info session, they said that a rec from Chemistry Teacher and a rec from Biology teacher is fine and they’re considered 2 different subjects. A rec from your junior English teacher and from your senior English teacher doesn’t fly though. That’s just BU’s policy though. Hope it helps!

Why don’t you have other options?

Although it may be better to show breadth with your recs, it won’t matter all that much, as long as they are different subjects (chem/bio/physics) and not the same subject.

And yes, why is it your only option?

As long as the college accepts that, it’s OK. Different colleges have different rules. Check the applications of colleges you’re applying to. Some colleges, including engineering schools, require that one recc be from an English teacher.

If your nonscience teachers are going to write cruel evil reps, then its better to disobey their instructions and send something good rather than something terrible.
