I’ll be about $45k in debt. State schools aren’t even that cheap anymore, either. I’m going to a private, where I was able to get FA and a small scholarship, but I also applied to a state school and they gave me no aid, whatsoever. It would have been about $20,000/yr to go to the state school.

About 35k when I’m finished. I going to transfer to UC, but tution is basically free since I qualify for B&G plan. I plan to just take out loans for housing so I can get my own apartment. Living with strangers is not an option for me.

I actually did find a debt support group and joined. lol. I recommend it! I feel better now. I at least got a degree with my debt, there are people with multiple credit cards with 30k+ on each one… and for practically nothing gained. And their interest rates are much higher than mine, and they manage to pay it off. So maybe we’ll be okay after all.

How the HELL do you end up with $30k in credit card debt? I couldn’t do that if I tried. Honestly if I had more than $3k in credit card debt, I’d have cut up my cards so fast they’d call me thinking it was stolen.

The stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me.

I’ve got about $25k, which isn’t too bad.

Tip for everybody looking at colleges: NEVER take out more in loans during undergrad than your expected first year salary, which means for many of you NEVER take out more than around 40-50k.
“But I got in to” IT DOESN’T MATTER.

A lot of them were using the credit card to make student loan payments they couldn’t afford! Or paying for college directly with the credit card. Oooopsies.

Credit cards aren’t allowed in my house. I am not even allowed to have a Kohls charge, if a bill comes to the house my dad will kick me out. I don’t know what the consequences would be for my mom but she isn’t “allowed” either. It is making establishing credit kind of complicated!

You never pay for college with a credit card, unless you’re doing it for the rewards and you actually have permanent financing of some kind lined up (loans, cash in the bank, stockpile of pot worth that much, whatever).

At this point, I’m inclined to think that the idiot banks that GIVE THEM that much credit are as guilty as the people charging tuition on a 25% no rewards credit card.

Credit cards can be your friend if you use them properly. Get a rewards card (FF miles or cash back>>>>>>>>all other “points” type rewards) and pay the bill in full every month. It’s that simple. You get an interest free loan for a month, and you’re getting paid to spend money on the card.
