Those are all very challenging schools, but you've got a lot going for you. Your SAT Is are decent and your SAT IIs are stellar. You've got ECs and you're a first gen. student. Id say you've got a good chance at all of them except maybe Cornell and Columbia, but even there I think you'll be very competitive.
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/635039-chances.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/635039-chances.html</a></p>

hmm... there's no engineering in UChicago, correct me if I'm wrong.

Decent grades/scores/ec's. but asian male? Ouch. you might need a little umpf in your application. How were your essays/recs? Those will probably be reviewed carefully given the circumstances.

Good luck!

I think you have a good shot at most of the schools, but I'm not sure about your class "rigor"... and using 3rd person might give them thoughts about your sanity :)

Penn and Northwestern might be a reach but you're in good shape for the others. The problem is your EC's, though 1st for math team is definitely impressive!

Best of luck!

Thank you everyone anyone else care to give me your thoughts. I really appreciate it. Will chance back.

Ticktock, yes, U chicago and a few other schools I applied to do not have engineering programs but I'm willing to major in other fields such as economics/business/etc.

spratleyj, haha I use third person to attract people to my page. I'm as sane as any person can be haha.

I would say that schools that you could mostly get in to would be:

University of Michigan, University of Chicago, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Cooper Union and University of Virginia.

Maybe schools would be:

Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Duke, Rice, Georgetown, Washington at St Louis, Emory, Columbia

Probably not:

Columbia and Penn

BUT OVERALL, YOUR AN OUTSTANDING STUDENT =)

Thank you for the chance and compliments, mcvcm92. Anyone else like to chance me? Thanks ahead of time. Will chance back.

Bummpp bumppp

UCLA and Berkeley are known to be really inconsistent with their admissions, at least from the people I know. SATs are good and nice GPA. The fact that your applying as OOS may/maynot help you..
Anyway I think you have a good chance.

Sorry, Im not familiar with the other schools :P

Thanks einnob. Anyone else like to chance me. Thanks ahead of time. Will chance back just link me to your page.

Bumpp bumpp

bumppp will chance back

1st in county for math team? wow...

But yeah I basically agree with the rest of the forum. UPenn will be TOUGH. So will Cornell and Columbia but those two will be a bit more manageable. Emory is really not that hard trust me. Your SAT is OKAY..For some of those schools it would be niceer to submit 2100+ or even better 2200+

The rest of the schools you have above a 50% probly

I would really appreciate if you did....<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/639524-chance-uc-berkeley-eng-cornell-eng-even-stanford-will-chance-back.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/639524-chance-uc-berkeley-eng-cornell-eng-even-stanford-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

On a general note, getting financial aid from public schools as an out-of-state applicant is like pulling teeth. Unless you're prepared to pay for most of it (or have a very high EFC to begin with), public schools aren't so great when you don't live in the state. Private schools tend to be more generous, on average.

well all of those schools have really low acceptance rates, so its hard to chance even top students like you, your scores are fine for all of those places, and your gpa is phenomenal. However, you can never really know, still i think you have a great chance at all of them , cooper and columbia being the only ones where its near impossible to get in, so no doubt youll get into 2/3 of all those schools. I guess it comes down to how they like your essays

chance me back at
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/635725-chance-me-i-will-chance-back.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/635725-chance-me-i-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

First in the county isn't that impressive, but since you live in New York that might be a different story. I think you got a good chance at atleast half of your schools and the other half is reach.

I agree with #5 post about use of the third person. In addition, if this is another parent vicariously living for his/her kid, just STOP IT! If this is the student, I apologize. Frankly, narrow your search models and your list a bit or you cannot possibly sound AUTHENTIC and PASSIONATE about your ideal college choices and that might "bleed through" in your essays and short responses!

I think he's the real deal, not some parent. He says it on post 7, 8, or 9.
