S got his acceptance and a nice merit offer yesterday, hooray! He applied in late December. Until last fall, we had never heard of Willamette but by chance we were helping move a relative from Salem to NorCal and got a chance to informally look around the campus. S fell in love with everything about it, academics, atmosphere, sense of community, small student body, and beautiful surroundings. After doing some research, he really liked everything he read and heard about it. If he doesn’t get in to his first choice (we won’t know until March), Willamette it is! For him, it is a perfect example of “love thy safety.”

Congratulations! I’m glad your son found a second love and the Cardinal box can happily stay in the attic. I’m still laughing about your favorite wine glasses. Another month, and you can order a new set D is doing an extended 2nd visit President’s day week.

saintfan, let us know how the visit goes. Will she be doing one of the accepted students days? S2 hopes to do one in April.

No on visit day, she had a visit planned for the 30th /31st but we had to cancel because their semester was extended after days lost to snowstorm. She is going T/W President’s day week. She’s already done the tour and felt like she’s rather spend the time going to as many classes as she could without all the hoopla of an event. She will attend 5 classes over the 2 days and spend the night. My mom is taking her down - so I’ll have to wait to hear 2nd hand. The visit coordinator was very helpful in setting her up and changing days several times as we were cancelled by weather, then impending IB oral exams. I will update after the visit.

The FA office was also very helpful when I called them with questions.

Stoccermom, sorry I never saw your last post from December! Thanks for the debate comments. D could go that route. However, she now has acceptances from Marquette, Loyola Chicago, Western Washington (her safety) and miraculously, Dickinson College in Pennsylvania! All but WWU have great mock trial teams and so Willamette is now in the rearview mirror. Kind of sad for me–I REALLY like the school. Well, S will be college-bound in two years so I can work on him instead.

Congrats to all of your kiddos who will be attending Willamette. :-)

Hi–anyone have good information on the theatre department?

Here’s the link to the theater department website. It seems to have good information about the department.

[Theatre | Willamette University](Theatre Program | Willamette University | Undergrad Programs)

Thanks debatedude. Yes the information on the website is good. I was just wondering if others had opinions they would like to share!

@momsings, I’m sorry that no one has answered the question. Willamette students rarely log on to Collegeconfidential, I’m afraid. My son has attended a number of shows on campus and enjoyed them all, but I don’t know anything about the theater program. You could check this out during a visit to campus.

Thank you CalAlum! It is ok, we visited Saturday and got a good look at the theatre department. Actually, it looks pretty darned incredible!

Over 9000 apps this year.
