William And Mary Early Decision for Fall 2022 Admission

To be clear, the actual scores weren’t ever listed in the portal for my S either, but there was a box with the submitted SAT test dates. I’m sure you’re fine! You probably just didn’t notice it…

What did the email they sent to you look like? Did it say « A decision regarding your application has been posted to your applicant status portal page, which you may access… »

No email, just a decision in the portal

Did they send her an email to let her know the decision was posted?

My daughter was waitlisted. She did get an email to check her portal. Soft no, I guess, but she feels a confidence boost that she at least was good enough to be entertained. Got into VT EA, so ready to commit to VT and have this process behind her. W&M was a high reach anyway, so she’s mentally been there for a while.

Well, we are officially done waiting for college decisions. Unfortunately this one was not good news, but that’s OK. My S cast a wide net and had amazing success (applied to 16 schools, accepted at 14, waitlisted at 1, merit awarded at 9). He has a lot of good choices.

Stats: OOS, SAT 1420, GAP 3.6UW/4.5W, 6 APs (all 4’s so far), probably below average ECs, probably above average essay, did “optional” essay (but wasn’t as good as his main common app essay), visited from OOS but did not interview or reach out to AO.

As an interesting side data point, according to Naviance, not a single student from my S’s high school has ever been admitted (large, inner city test-in high school) – although only about 5 students apply each year.

My daughter waitlisted; if anyone happens to have info. on how many get off waitlist at W&M, or if there’s anything to do to help, please post. And congrats to all who get in - our son went there and it’s a wonderful place!

Waitlisted: In-state (nova); 3.7UW,4.1W/35/9APs-all 4s&5s; Targeted ECs. It’s fine because he had decided against W&M anyway and thus declined the WL spot. Just putting these stats up for interest. Congratulations to all who got in and good luck to those waitlisted!

The FAQ attached to the decision letter said 1200-1500 typically elect to stay on the wait list and:

How many students are admitted from the waitlist in a typical year?
The number has varied tremendously in previous years and is difficult to predict. Below are the numbers of students we’ve offered admission from the waitlist for each of the past four years:

2021 38 students

2020 145 students

2019 184 students

2018 94 students

WOW!!! So, less than 500 applicants have ever been accepted from the Wait List in the past 4 years!!! Or only 7.6 percent of all students in the past 4 years who were placed on the Waitlist have ever been admitted.

Admitted!!!

She didn’t get an email but she thinks it’s because she had already checked her portal.

Who’s headed to Admitted Students Day (Apr. 9th)? Hoping the chance to explore W&M in depth and meet potential classmates will help seal the deal for my S. :crossed_fingers:

Congratulations to the future class of 2026! :tada:

William & Mary offers two spring term guaranteed admission programs for waitlisted students; a community or junior college pathway, and an academic Semester Abroad program through Verto Education.

We will be there with DD.

Even though it has been her #1, she wants to give the other admittances an appropriate consideration before pulling the trigger. She has never been one for rash decision making.

Thanks for all the information. Daughter waitlisted. In state, 4.3 1330, NHS, Clubs, etc. Might do the abroad option if not admitted for Fall since she was considering the same at another school. Have some other very good options as well. Congratulations and good luck to all.
