I think your lineup looks great. My kid goes to one of the top LACs, and just as you’d suspect, the pressure is very intense.

If you’re conservative, check out Washington and Lee. Otherwise, you seem to have picked a good offering of conservative-friendly schools.

Washington and Lee is excellent, small and supportive and has an honor pledge that is very impressive. Not only that, they give out large numbers of full scholarships. We visited there, and it’s really nice.

I’ve heard it’s the best LAC in the south. Doesn’t it have an acceptance rate in the teens though? What odds would I have there?

It would be reach-ish, but totally doable. Learn more about it and apply if you like it. Your stats are good enough that you shouldn’t be excluding schools (except maybe HYPSM) just because of selectivity.

Carleton is for the ugly and macalester is crummy. Look into st Olaf. It is in the same city as Carleton, but everyone is hotter and the education level is the same

Lol no.1 I’m skeptical girls at Carleton are unattractive and second I think most people would agree Carleton education > St. Olaf education.

Oh boy… if you are going to go to college to stare at girls, go to California.

Dude, all these schools are pretty much safeties/matches for you! I suggest applying to Ivies and other tier 1 schools. Why not try Cornell, Brown, UCLA? :)

Please chance back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/878000-chance-desperate-transfer-please-will-chance-back.html

i agree with everyone else, you’re beyond all of these schools. you have nearly no reaches. you need to apply to a few higher caliber schools!

Anyone else have an opinion about W&M and Georgetown? I’m most uncertain about them.

Thanks for the chance! Chancing you back. :)

Wow, you’re a great candidate for all your schools. Consider applying for some even harder schools, you never know what’ll happen! Good luck to you!

Match for W&M, low reach for Georgetown. :)

Personally, I think that if you applied, you could get into way more competitive schools than those on your list, but at the same time I understand not wanting to reach too high. I dont know much about some of the schools on your list, but just from your stats here’s my take. The fact that you demonstrate leadership and community oriented-ness is a major plus. Also that you are (from what it sounds like) quite proficient in an instrument, a language and a sport shows just how well-rounded you are. As for academics…IB is great as are your APs. I think that the former will really prepare you for the rigor of college and will show that to admissions people, while the latter will probably get you more credit.
In summary:
from what I can comment on from knowledge -
Georgetown - match
UVA -match
William & Mary - match
Indiana University -match (you’re good and in state)
from what I’ve heard/a bit of estimation -
Notre Dame - probably a match (i’m sure being in state helps)
Boston College - probably a match too
the others…
(Carleton
Kenyon
Macalaster
McGill)
I know nothing about, so it would be all guessing with no knowlede, and I wouldn’t do that. Bit if they’re anything like the other schools on your list I’m sure you’ll have no problem. =)

Thanks all. Unfortunately, I know for a fact being in state at ND doesn’t help.

Good GPA, good test scores. Also, you have well rounded ECs and rank will help.

William and Mary - match
UVA - match (assuming you live in VA)
Notre Dame - Match/Low reach
Carleton - match
Kenyon - match
Macalaster - don’t know
Boston College - match/Low reach
Georgetown - match/ low reach
