I'm having a really hard time deciding between the two as I love different things about both of them. I applied undecided, but I know I'm interested in Economics, International Relations, and English. I think William and Mary would be more liberal artsy which I prefer to Emory's pre-professionalism, but Emory has Atlanta which is more attractive to me than Williamsburg. Emory ranks higher and there's the rumor William and Mary is no fun which is troubling (education comes first, but I'd like to experience the "college life"). I live in northern Virginia so travel cost back home would be a lot cheaper if I go to William and Mary and the College is public so I have guaranteed in-state prices (though both financial aid packages are good, I'd only be paying a little more to go to Emory). Any advice?

Emory might have great pre-professionalism programs but it’s also known for its outstanding liberal arts college. In addition, there is absolutely no reason to choose a public school over a private school when the costs of each school are relatively the same. In my opinion, Emory has a better campus, better city, better faculty, and the best facilities in the country. Only downside is Emory doesn’t have much school spirit (no football team). But i think you really will get the full college experience at Emory.

William and Mary no doubt.

Why hoops19?

lol. This might sound blunt but he just wants you to go to W&M so he can get a better chance of getting off the waitlist for Emory.

“I really hope Emory takes me off the waitlist because I would absolutely LOVE to go there.”
-hoops19

Hahahahahahaha Thanks yuxuanchen and, in a way, thank you too hoops19. :p

Seriously though I meant no offence hoops19 and I hope you do get taken off the waitlist.

yuxuanchen what are you a stalker??

No, you just tend to post a lot of stuff here about being on the waitlist that your name pops up everywhere. Don’t deny it haha.

strategy my bro

Respect ;)

My impression is that William & Mary can be pretty pre-professional as well. The reality is that a lot of the better schools are. It’s just part of being a research university.

Maybe in Emory it is easier to get the class you want.

English here is excellent. So is Political Science (and IR overlaps with that I’m pretty sure). I don’t like Economics here, though.

If the price difference isn’t much, I’d take Emory.
