I notice that William and Mary has a prominant listing of George Bush on its webpage. Is this some kind of endorsement? Is William & Mary SO conservative?

I just went over to the website and didn't see anything about Bush on the home page. I also couldn't find anything current about him with a search. So I'm not sure what you're referring to.

But no, W & M is not SO conservative. Not that most conservatives like Bush, either.

And, thankfully, there's nothing to endorse him for. Our 8-year sentence is just about up. :)

Yes, I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Care to elaborate?

uhh...what? I also can't find anything about Bush, other than his name in some articles when I searched the entire website...

Significantly more W&M students (and professors) identify themselves as liberal than conservative

Daughter is extreme liberal. I've noted little about W&M that is truly conservative.

My mistake: it's a quote from Bush, the father. William & Mary - W&M in Words

I'm feeling better now. Can't imagine any college putting the current president as a "spokesman" so to speak on its webpage.

I believe that was a quotation from a commencement speech he gave.

On the other hand, I wish you wouldn't be so close-minded about things. Now that you realized it was a quote from Bush the elder you are okay with it; that means you didn't even care to read the quote, you just saw who said it and assumed you would/should hate it. At least pretend to care about the context.

It's ok to loathe conservatives, but if you loathe a liberal, you are close-minded! lol

I am not a Kool-Aid drinking Republican, BTW.

I am not a liberal. It was not the content of the quote, but of course, the person speaking to whom I objected.

There are many places where George Bush is still admired (SMU) and I am looking for something else.

If that exact same quote was attributed to the current president... what would be the problem with it? Would it be acceptable if Clinton or Obama said it instead? There is nothing political about that statement.

The quote itself is benign, as you point out. It is the messenger who is tarnished. If William & Mary chooses to use this guy as a spokesman for the school, then it would make me question William & Mary's judgment.
