William & Mary Class of 2020 ED Applicants Discussion

I know it’s early, but I’m already so excited to apply ED to William and Mary and I’m sure there are others out there like me, so I thought this would be a good idea  Anyone else already getting anxious?

Good luck! I applied ED last year so if you have any questions about the application process feel free to ask.

I might be! I cant decide whether to apply early or regular but W&M is my first choice:)

@mary101 Cool! Are you OOS?

Nope, in state.

@mary101 Me, too. So, what’s holding you back from applying ED? I thought maybe it would be finances if you were OOS.

I’m applying ED, but I wouldn’t suggest applying ED unless you 100% know that it’s where you want to go.

Hey! Why are you all applying Ed? I’m considering applying Ed very highly. What are your thoughts and opinions on the college?

I’ve decided to apply ED because I figured if I applied regular decision to eight other colleges or so, including W&M, and if was accepted into ones I liked, including W&M, I would go to W&M. So, why not just do my application now, save time, money, and help my chances of admission while I’m at it. William and Mary is so special in my opinion. It has culture and traditions. The people there are wonderful, and the academics are top-notch. I just love it.

I just submitted my Early Decision application! Does anyone know the specific date that we find out?

I submitted my ED app a couple hours ago! I’ve been researching and looking back at last year and if it follows the same timeline as before, we will hopefully find out around 6 pm on Dec 5th.

Don’t count on that timeline. It can be as early as November 29th or as late as December 12th,so best just try and forget about it! I know it’s hard, but your life will be easier if you aren’t checking CC and the blog on a daily basis.

Like ribbon road, I also applied ED last year. I was deferred and then denied, so if anyone has questions about that process I would be happy to share my wisdom! I am currently applying as a transfer :). If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!

@kvanderz Where did you end up? Good luck with the transfer.

I had a few good options, but I ended up deciding it would be stupid to go away if I was just going to transfer as soon as possible. I didn’t want to risk having credits not transfer, and I especially didn’t want to have to move twice in one year. Right now I’m at community college, and even though I thought I would hate it, it’s not so bad. It’s a viable option for those of you who end up getting denied, especially in-state.
Believe me, I was the last person I thought would end up staying home, but it’s going to be worth it in the long run!

I wonder if communication through the Admit It blog will be different after Wendy Livingston left…

I think you’ll still get replies to your comments, but AdmitIt! was kind of Dean Livingston’s baby, so I can’t imagine we will see as many actual blog posts as before. I’d guess maybe one ED post, one transfer post, and then the ‘Decisions’ blog.

@kvanderz that’s pretty disappointing. I remember when they used to respond to threads on here too.

Hopefully they’ll get back to it, it was an invaluable service to the applicants.

@kvanderz VA community colleges have guaranteed acceptance program for specific GPA achieved there ( actually all VA schools do) its a fabulous program to same money and if you are a serious contender to be accepted the required GPA should be easy.

NOTE" WM GPA (3.6) is HIGHER than UVA (3.4), reflecting that smart serious students go to WM, smart partiers go to UVA lol
