Can I please get an honest opinion from someone who knows W&M? Do you think I could make the ED acceptance for W&M (ED for W&M is 48-53% acceptance rate because of smaller pool). I appreciate all input.

Please guys. I’d really like some absolutely honest opinion. I’d really like cold, solid, honest, unbiased opinions. Even if it’s not positive.

Please guys i’m dyin’ i’m submitting by sunday :(((((

Your junior year grades kind of hurt with the C’s and lack of As, but if WM sees your senior year I believe you have very good chances, because they will see that despite your family loss you can bounce back up and keep going. ED will make things even better. Do you go to school in northern VA btw?

Yea I’m instate.

Also I hear my school is pretty “competitive”.
According to the U.S News Weekly Banners on the school
My school is ranked #1 in the county, #7 in the state, and #112 in the nation as of 2011.
If this is considered competitive could that potentially improve my chances guys?

If you’re from TJ you should be fine.

You’ll get in. Especially if you’re in state.

Chance me

Haha I’m not TJ or Maggie Walker though.

can some more people give insight on this? I’m particularly concerned about the GPA drop in junior year.

TJ is ranked Number One in the state, not #7:

[Top Virginia High Schools | Best High Schools | US News](http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/virginia)

Not sure where O/P is getting numbers from, though.

I read it wrong. My bad. Maggie Walker is still a really good school and you’ll still probably be fine.

ROFL I said TJ or Maggie Walker cuz those are like the top ones. My school isn’t magnet or top. And surprisingly according to that website, it’s not #7 either so now I’m confused.

But aside from the school’s competitiveness, what would you guys honestly say about my chances? All kindness/pity aside.

75% chance if I had to give a number

@liquidbunn
Even with my junior year grade drop? Really??? I’ve been under the impression that my senior year grades won’t help much.

I’m 127 rank out of 452. top 28%

80% of W&M class is top 10%

guys would my chances be extremely bleAk

Yes, you are right to think about class rank, but I think this still makes you no worse than 50/50 ED and probably more like 66% or so.

In addition to ED, you have some things going for you: (1) decent SATs, (2) in state, (3) male (an assumption based on handle) and WM appears to have slightly easier standards for males based on last few years admissions records (26% v. over 40% last year), (4) a very strong HS that W&M is probably very familiar with (I am from NOVA and per Naviance last year my kids’ HS had students in at least the 20th percentile getting accepted there, and (5) really good ECs.

If you’ve explained the grade drop, I think the 2 C’s might not matter. You’ve got a bunch of EC’s, your SAT score is good, but your class rank is pretty low for WM. Also, why aren’t you disclosing your unweighted GPA? Is it not required for WM?

Thanks for your guys’ responses

I actually have no idea what my undisclosed GPA is. the school doesn’t provide it. if it puts it into any perspective, there are some people in my school with 4.5 GPAs.

do you guys know how much weight an interview would hold for W&M if it went very well?

Any more opinions people?
