William & Mary Fall 2011 Transfer Thread

Ah, so a week and a half at the earliest. Hang in there guys!

soychai- nope, i never got the second email, but i called the admissions office and they said my file was completed in feb. (and they claim they sent me the second email, but i checked my spam and i don’t see it!)

ahhh, the last week of April can’t come soon enough! My birthday and exams are that week, so that email is either going to make my birthday the best one ever or make for a very upsetting week all around.

Good luck everyone! I know all of us are worrying a lot right now, but I hope for the best for all of you!

YoungHistorian, strong letters of rec from facullty can enhance an application but they are entirely optional and we mean it when we say optional so if you haven’t yet developed a rapport with any faculty do not feel pressure to send recommendations.

Yes, we do anticipate mailing decisions the week of April 25 (likely the tail end of that week). Decisions are released via email and all decisions are released the same evening (although over the course of several hours as it takes time to send out 900 individual emails).

wm admission- are you going to blog about transfers? i love reading those blogs.

i love reading the blogs as well!! they’re so great.

W&M Admission- When do you think you guys will know the exact date decisions will be released? next week?

on-campus housing is on a first-come, first-served basis, right?

ha sorry for all the questions, i’m just sooooo anxious for my decision!!

is there anything else i can do at this point to show the admissions committee how much i love and feel like i belong at william and mary? i seriously do think it is the school for me, and i really hope i showed that through my essay. i did not send in any professor letters of recommendation because i feel like none of my professors know me well enough to actually write something about me. i just feel like w&m is the perfect fit for me, and i really hope the admissions committee agrees.

also, since i used the reopen application form, does w&m take into consideration interest?

I hope you get accepted too! I am also very anxious because my high school grades are not too great but hopefully I have made up for it now. I know that W&M goes above and beyond to incorporate the transfer students but how specifically is this done?

rohel- are you applying as a sophomore transfer or junior transfer?

w&m admission- i’m applying as a sophomore transfer, and i had around a 3.5 UW and 4.0 W GPA in high school. Is this a decent GPA to have when applying as a sophomore transfer? i know high school grades still count, but i don’t know how much they count.

McBainTrain- I really hope that you get into William and Mary, but honestly I don’t think that there is anything you can do right now that will get you in. Sit and back and try to relax. In less than 2 weeks we will all the decision. Good luck!

I am applying for sophomore status so that is why I am a bit worried but hopefully everything will be alright. Good luck to everybody, these next two weeks-ish are going to be nerve racking but before you know it you will know.

sorry i’m ranting everyone! i just recently realized that W&M is really where I see myself going next year, so I’ve been going crazyyyy waiting for decisions to come out!

and good luck to everyone :)

I absolutely love W&M, but I’m not counting on it. Even if I do get in, I doubt I can afford it. (I’m OOS, have a very low EFC, and don’t want to take out too many loans.)

Good luck to everyone here! I’ve been a wreck waiting for decisions, but now that I have a few acceptances, I feel a bit more calm.

@hopefultransfer4,

I’m in the exact same boat as you. I’m an OOS transfer with an EFC of 0. I was told that W&M meets an average of 85% for OOS transfers, so I’m hoping the aid packet is fairly decent. However, I did also apply to Vanderbilt and they meet 100% need with their 0 loan policy, so if I get into Vanderbilt I’ll go there, assuming I don’t get into Georgetown SFS.

GodricGryffindor, yep, same boat. I’ve already been accepted at UNC (supposedly meets 100% of need), so I’m not going to stress over W&M, although I guess I won’t really know until I get my FA package.

Good luck with your other schools, though!

Yeah. But I mean if I can afford W&M and I get in, I’m DEFINITELY going to go there because it’s been a dream of mine for so long. I wanted to go when I was a high school senior, but I was discouraged to apply by my high school counselor because of poor high school grades.

However, I think I’ve rebounded since then and I’d like to be in Williamsburg come this Fall. Georgetown SFS is great, but I don’t think I’d feel at home in D.C. From what my friends have told me about Williamsburg, it’s really “homely and cozy,” and I really do prefer that environment.

I called the admissions office on Friday and was told that decisions would be e-mailed on May 1st. I hope it’ll be sooner, but it’s good to know that we’ll have a decision in two weeks.

Good luck to you all.

I’m not a big fan of D.C., so I feel you there. Hopefully it will work out.

Ah, May 1st. This process has been one waiting game after another, haha. I cannot wait for it to be over!

less than 2 weeks for decisions :)

Just saw this:
