I wish I applied ED but it’s obviously too late now.
W&M is my dream school…so I have a relatively low SAT score (1280) and a 4.51 GPA. On those factors alone, do you think I’m competitive for admission?
Thanks

Are you in state? Any other info? In general, SAT is a bit low, but GPA seems fine.
@IzzoOne I’m an in-state female and an IB Diploma candidate
Is your SAT new, or old?
If it is new, your chance of admission isn’t that high.
If it’s old, there is certainly hope.
@gklfajg It’s the new SAT. I realize it is a low score. However, I have friends that got rejected from elite schools with very high stats…so I’m not sure. Thank you for being frank. Again, I will update this post when I receive my decision.
@brainscistudent Yeah, so I applied to a college (not William and Mary), and I would say that I have pretty good stats. However, I still got deferred. It’s really hard to know why you get denied, deferred or accepted sometimes. It’s kind of random.
I would say that even though you’re in-state, your stats could vary based on where you are in the state. For example, kids in NoVA have lower chances of getting into WM because there are so many wealthier kids applying to top universities. No one can really tell you what you’re looking at without the context of what your rank is within your school and what your situation is. I would say that your chances are pretty good, but factors like being a guy, for example, can increase your chances (more female applicants to WM, so there’s a lower acceptance rate).
Update: I got waitlisted. Oh well.
