I am a white male OOS. My unweighted gpa is 3.6/3.7. My lowest grade is 1 C+ in one term of sophomore Latin. I have a 760 SAT math, 700 critical reading, and 750 writing. I have taken all honors classes, except for 5 APs. I have gotten 5s on the following AP tests: US Hist, Euro Hist, Bio, Engl. A 4 on AP Chem. I have not yet taken SAT 2s.

I have volunteered in a hospital since freshman year. I have done karate for 8 years and have a black belt. I have played the piano and taken lessons since I was 7. I formed my school's young Democrat's Club, of which I am president, in Junior year. I joined my schools Mock Trial Team in Junior year. I participated in an unorthodox, 4 week school trip to Ecuador, on which we hiked throughout the country and helped out a local village's school. I am also in NHS.

I work as busboy.

I am interested in William and Mary and am worried about rejection since I am a white, OOS Male. In addition, my GPA is slightly low, and I have that Latin C+. Also, because I had a sudden peak in extracurriculars Junior year, I feel they may think it was only because I wanted to build on my application.

What do you think my chances for admission to William and Mary are?

I am a rising Senior at William and Mary and I take note of posts where the "chance me" student says how much they really want to come to William and Mary. Trust me, William and Mary wants to admit students that want to come. I am an in-state male, so I had a bit of an advantage. My GPA was higher than yours but my SAT's were not as high. That said, your GPA is low for W&M. What is your class rank? How many years of a foreign language? Did you take Calculus? It is my opinion that William and Mary admissions is very approachable and I suggest you make contact with them. William and Mary KNEW they were my absolute first choice. I believe that helped me. I was in the top 5% of a large graduating class at a very top public high school. I took the SAT's three times but couldn't budge over 1290. I did take the ACT and scored a 31. I think that helped me. I also graduated with over a 4.0 and had pretty good EC's. I want to see you succeed at gaining admission to William and Mary, because like me, you really want to come. You have done a great job in high school and will do well anywhere you land. I sincerely hope it's William and Mary. I think you have a shot because your interest is sincere and you have the ability to convey that.
