Hey, at least he’s not talking to Amherst EDers.
@MrTongueTie yeah I might apply to Stanford on the off chance (lol) that i get rejected from Williams
Eh, I mean Stanford is just the Pomona of universities.
@DressingIron please forgive my lack of college savvy, what’s wrong with Stanford/amherst/pomona?
@DressingIron Eh, good point. Then I’d be REALLY worried…
@Shoumei From what I’ve heard, no regular human gets into Stanford. You have to be a cyborg from Saturn…
@Shoumei Stanford, Amhest and Pomona are not Williams College. That’s their problem!
I visited Pomona and did not like it one bit.
@MrTongueTie hahahaha good point
You never know if adcom’s are stalking this page. And since we have put some of our information out there…
Eh, I think Stanford is just random. I met someone at a fly-in that ended up getting into Stanford through Questbridge, and he was very much a normal guy. I wouldn’t put too much stock in assuming all the people at HYSPM are super geniuses or anything.
And boy, I hope adcoms don’t do that. Especially because you can’t remove posts on CC. I suspect that they’re probably too busy though. Plus, Williams says that they don’t consider interest when making admissions decisions.
(Amherst is also Williams’ historic rival for sports stuff – the two schools have had some friendly animosity going on for a good century and a half.)
Well it helps to be a cyborg…
Who’d you guys write about for your supplement?
Fun College Facts!
Did you know that the entire student body of Amherst College is made up of Blade Runner style replicants?
That’s why Calvin Coolidge was so quiet – robot.
@DressingIron oh rivals, I didn’t know… I should’ve researched more
i wrote about my friend who I’ve co-authored some books with @MrTongueTie hbu?
I’m a touch dodgy about posting my essay topic – only because it’s really specific and would probably identify me in an instant. I could probably message y’all though, if you’re interested?
Haha @DressingIron that movie is so old I had to google it. And sounds interesting, although I have no idea what you are talking about. I am guessing it is good for you to be esoteric for a supplement such as this – it makes you unique and interesting. Especially if they forward your essay to a professor at Williams and they love it. Are you Catholic?
@Shoumei Sounds like a good choice, that way you get to brag a little about writing a book! Are your books published…? I wrote about Karl Marx, because the purpose of the tutorial is to challenge what you believe. An adcom during an information session said they try to pair people up who come from opposite backgrounds, and are ideologically opposed.
I was completely joking about adcom’s reading through these posts. I wouldn’t worry. At the very least, they’d see that you (we) are very excited about Williams enough to talk about it on an online forum, with millions of people able to see.
Recruit
Oh, I’m not worried about adcoms; It’s just that some friends and family know what I wrote my supplement about and would be able to pick me out that way. Because you can’t really delete stuff of CC, I’m just erring on the side of caution.
And I’m Catholic but not particularly observant. I am really interested in the writings of church fathers though; it’s fascinating to see how much theological writing is really, at its core, philosophy.
