Hello…who is applying to Williams Regular Decision out there???
Me!
ditto
Working through the essays, which option are you taking?
I am!
Good luck to you all! My son graduated in 2015, and honestly it was an amazing school, even with its huge price tag.
It is an amazing school, professors go out their way to advise and mentor you, will help with essays, provide positive feedback when needed, are very supportive, etc. Also, the tuition is in line with any other highly ranked institution and aid is very generous.
What is the acceptance rate for RD for Williams College?
Overall rate last year, 15%. More often in other recent years, 17-18%. These are overall rates, not separating out ED. ED is usually about 35%. You can find all this info on the Common Data Set for more precise numbers and breakdowns.
Hey everyone! I’ve had my essays ready for a while now, but I’m going to give them one final read-over today and submit!! I know I’m cutting it close lol. How are you guys doing with your applications or the waiting game?
RD acceptance rate last year was about 12.7%, i.e. about 1000 acceptances from 7,865 RD applications. Last year Williams had 728 ED applicants and accepted 257 applicants ED (35%).
The common data set was just released (see posting on the website) and the trend as with other selective schools has been steadily upwards. That said, well rounded candidates with strong recommendations seem to get a bump.
@TennisParent - on what site was the data released?
@HPTD12 It is on the college’s own website, under Office of the Provost, Institutional Research. But just type “Williams College Common Data Set” into your search engine and then choose the one with office of the provost and pick the 2017-2018 file to open.
(Apparently, Williams needs more women. Women, please apply!)
Did anyone attend WOW?
@TheGreyKing Thanks for the referral to the Common Data Set - very interesting information and I had no idea that I
this information is available for almost all colleges and universities.
And based on the 2017-2018 data I agree that Williams needs more women. The entering class of 2021 had 56% men and 44% women(the prior year was M 52%/W 48%).
But women are indeed applying - in fact they made up 53% of the applicant pool. While the acceptance rate for women was slightly lower than that of men (13.5% vs. 15.7%), the major reason why the enrollment of women was so low was a much lower matriculation rate: 47.8% for men and 39.5% for women. My gut says that this is just a statistical outlier, but it does seem odd that more women were inclined to apply to Williams than men, but they were much less likely to matriculate. Not trying to be controversial here, just making an observation.
@kassh4 I did!
@DancingwithStars Which date did you go to?
@kassh4 the september weekend. How about you?
@DancingwithStars Yea, I went the September weekend too. Is Williams one of your top choices now?
