S24 has heard rumors that Williams is releasing its ED decisions on December 8. This comes from friends of a friend, who supposedly heard this from their counselor - so not exactly reliable information. Has anyone else heard that December 8 is the date?
This is what my daughterâs counselor told her as well. She also said 6pm which I think she was basing on what has happened in prior years. Iâm still not convinced itâs 12/8 but we hope so!
Last year Williams College released ED decisions on Friday, December 9th. It would make sense that the release date for this year would be Friday, December 8th. Do colleges often follow a pattern? Will the applicant receive an email through the common app about the release date? If anyone hears for sure, please post an update! Thanks!
Usually.
Often announced on social media. Sometimes a few days ahead. Sometimes day of.
In the past, the posting on the website on the release date is about week ahead so something should post soon.
A counselor at S24âs school now also said that decisions are coming on the 8th. So the evidence is accumulating. Where on the website has Williams posted the date in the past?
It is typically posted with a bull horn link on the admissions website. Ironically, the Amherst and other NESCAC admissions websites have similar bull horn functions, so they also post the release date the same way. The ED and EA release dates are also updated on the ivy wise website as they are released, so far, no updates:
any idea if weightage is given to high achieving non-recruiting athletes.
My sonâs counselor said she got an email saying 12/8 also.
Not sure what weightage would be given, but non recruited athletes are the majority of accepted students overall, ED has more athletes since they commit earlier. High achievement is a key factor of course regardless. If you are a strong student that is the first consideration.
Also, this posting has the historical release dates as well:
Class of 2028 Early Decision and Early Action Notification Dates - College Kickstart
do the admission officers place value on athletes who are highly ranked but have not been recruited?
Itâs like anything else â high achievement in some area, be it chess, sports, music, is a plus for what it says about you. Only recruits have a hook.
With that said, if youâre an Olympian in a sport the school doesnât have, thatâd make an interesting bit in the alumni magazine and could be quite compelling.
Thank you! Just had a query- My counsellor received an email from williams on the 20th of Nov regarding the decision date (12/8). That is 6 days after I submitted my application. Does this mean anything?
It seems that based on past years, Williams admissions has roughly 1000 applications for ED and the admissions can likely figure out how long it will take them to review this # of applications. Will the admissions office at some point sent some type of notification to the applicants information about the official date for decisions? I am wondering how much notice the applicants will receive.
