Williams college financial aid for an international ..

Hello dear CCers,

So here is the deal. I was admitted to the Williams College Class of 2016. As I had not yet received any aid notification, I emailed the FinAid Office to ask about my EFC. And instead of giving me an answer to my question, the finaid office tells me that I'm missing income statements for both of my parents, for the whole year of 2011.

Now I had my parents ask for that document, and they brought me statements showing the total raw income for each of them, no taxes or what not, raw income, for the year 2011. Do you think that these documents will be enough? Do I need another document showing taxes and so on, for the whole year of 2011?

Thank you beforehand,
M.

I think you’ll want to how taxes so that your EFC is not based on pre tax income.

I think you need to call the school and ask.

@Waverly: But the documents clearly state that what is provided is pre tax income. You think they’ll base my EFC off of pre tax income?

Did you fill out the form that they require as it pertains to you and your situation?

According to their instructions you will need more than statements showing raw income.

did you provide them with the information that they asked for?

If you do not stop beating around the bush, you are going to end up with no financial aid. If you cannot show that you have the funds to study in the US, you will not get a visa. Turn in the certified documents that they request (bank statements, tax forms)

Williams states

I have a “Statement from employer”, and on it, there is only pre tax income. I posted this thread to know whether I need another “Statement from employer” showing after-tax income. On the website they did not specify whether they need pre-tax income or after-tax income, so I thought both should work.

Never mind though, I talked it over with my parents and they are getting me two more “Statements from Employer” showing after-tax income.

Molectron - Why are you asking here instead of just sending an email to Williams? They are the ones who will know the answer to your questions. It really, truly, is OK to ask them.

I know it is. I just thought it would be better to ask here on CC since the FinAid Office will need about up to 48 hours to answer me. Moreover, today is a Sunday, will they asnwer me on a Sunday?

They won’t answer on Sunday, but the email will be waiting for them when they arrive on Monday.

And that’s why I asked here on CC :)

Send the email to Williams. Then go do something fun to distract yourself a bit. You’ve worried enough for one day. :)

I just did, hoping that they’d answer me by tomorrow !!
Yes you’re absolutely right. I’ve been worrying about this for a couple of days, I defnitely need to do something fun, like Math for example  Thank you happymomof1 :)
